That's pretty accurate. it's simple physics; the liquid flows downward (gravity) into the container bottle, when you hold the filler up higher than the hose and the receptacle bottle. It works well.

The product doesn't come with a lid if you don't use the tube. I don't know why you would use it all the way it comes. I am so happy with it and using the tube and bottle that I brought a second one. Where the tube goes onto the bottle screws on so I suppose you could take the tube out and just plug the hole if you didn't want to use the tube.
