Great knowledge for a beginner!
I recently switched degrees from marketing to digital design and I’ve felt really lost. This book covers a lot of things I’d have learned at college if I had studied graphic design and has definitely helped my knowledge.

Nice book on the basics and very practical!
I have always been trying online marketing and the constant creation of banners landing pages and Pinterest pins and book covers and thumbnail art etc is an neverending requirement and if it looks bad which it used then your credibility really suffers and eventually your sales. So when I needed something that when deeper than the basics and fairly comprehensive this book hit the absolute spot! The numerous examples really helped me to understand why my designs looked bad. Because I didn't know the rules I was making many mistakes. Even though this book is great alot of practice is still required to sharpen my graphic design skills but I am really grateful as I am very confident in taking regular text and designing it or crafting a landing page for a clickbank or CPA offer so it is congruent and improves conversion which is much more money in my pocket:)

Excellent!
I was a trained printer in the mid-80's and between then and now have only relied on what I learnt then. Now I want to create relevant and engaging material for the internet. This book is not only a fantastic refresher on classic principles, it concisely incorporates fresh and accumulated practical knowledge from the last 30 (or so) years. A period of rapid accumulation of knowledge of how to present visual information clearly. I can't believe what the author has managed to achieve in one book. I will probably get this in print form to have beside my PC as a reference. A+++

Needs editing.
Extremely basic book for the real novice. Needs proof reading and editing to sound like native English. The lack of the definite article, the verb not agreeing with the subject and common metaphors incorrectly expressed (eg invent the bicycle instead of reinvent the wheel) are distracting. I went through the whole thing going 'wait, what?' Otherwise most bases covered for the beginner.
