First, there are different lengths of stems. You need to know the thickness of the clock. A short stem will simply not work in a thicker face. Pass the movement through from the back, and secure it by spinning the hex nut down tight . Then gently press first the hour hand, then the minute hand and finally the second hand down onto their respective levels. Hope that helps
