Q: What size padlock shackle will these take ?

There must have been a change because the set I have just received in Aug '22 has a 10mm sized hole. This measures just a tad under 10mm so I reckon they have used a 10mm bit and then the paint layer/s account for the reduction. Probably best to get a padlock with a 9.5mm max shackle pin for an easy life as it would be a shame to have to remove the protective paint layer if using 10mm.

Q: Can these brackets be used with the ladders stood vertically?

Wouldn’t suggest using these to support the weight of the ladders alone due to the leverage being put on a very narrow strip of metal. Think of a shelf bracket and how that works. If you had a pair of long heavy duty hooks fairly high up to support under a rung and then used these to lock the ladders up that would work. Hope that makes sense.

Q: What a the maximum thickness of ladder it fits

The bracket is designed for ladders 15cm (6”) thick. Having said that I have a three section ladder 18cm (7”) thick and with a bit of bending have managed to get the ladders in and padlocked. Not very pretty but just works.

Q: diameter of mounting holes, 6mm masonry bolt will not go thro’ the hole, 6mm drill bit does so M5? Really don’t want to drill out. Mnf-anticipate!

As of Aug '22 the holes themselves are just a tad under 6.5mm. I reckon they were drilled out with a 6.5mm bit and the paint layer/s account for the difference. FWIW, I am using M6 rawl type bolts and they fit perfectly.
