The method of lighting and using our Tandoor Oven is similar to a charcoal fired BBQ.:  With the Lid off and the ventilation door open, take couple of firelighters and break into smaller pieces and place at the base of the Oven  Put around 3kg of lump wood charcoal in a pyramid shape around the fire lighters and light the fire lighters with a long match stick  It will take approx. 30 minutes from cold to cooking temperature.  Make sure flame has subsided since you are cooking from the residue heat of the burnt / burning charcoal at the bottom.  Put pre-marinated meat or vegetables in the skewers and place all 8 / 10 skewers.  Since the heat inside the clay pot is even, there is no need to turn the skewers whilst food is cooked. Your food will cook very fast - the meat is cooked from outside in (with the heat of the clay walls) & inside out (since skewers will get hot).  Remove the cooked food from the skewers taking care not to touch the metal of the skewers  Ensure food is adequately cooked before consuming  PURI Tandoors wish you happy cooking
