BRIO World - 33889 Crane & Mountain Tunnel | 7 Piece Toy Train Accessory for Kids | Interactive Play | FSC Certified Wood | Perfect for Ages 3 and Up

I purchased this crane and mountain set for my train loving 3 year old. Like all Brio train products, this piece is well made and very attractive. At the moment its our second largest train accessory after the Brio garage, and therefor takes up a large foot print on our Melissa and Doug train table. Pros: 1. It makes really realistic, fun sounds when train cars pass through the bottom tunnel. Sounds are activated by magnet and aren't too loud. 2. There are lots of ways to play with this accessory. It has a first floor tunnel, an overpass/bridge tunnel, and a fully functioning crane. 3. The top of the mountain can be removed to add yet another tunnel elsewhere on your track, for a total of 3 tunnels (see my attached pics). 4. One wagon, one crane operator, and one gold cargo are included so that your kiddo can enjoy this toy fully straight out of the box. The mountain has little nubs where you can store the gold, which looks really neat and realistic! Cons 1. The biggest con is the way the two ascending track pieces connect in the upper tunnel. They don't snap or secure into any groove or ledge. They simply rest on the mountain, which causes the track to frequently slide and occasionally disconnect. Brio really should have gone the extra mile to add track connectors or grooves for sturdier, less frustrating play. 2. This mountain has a large footprint. Expect it to take up a large portion of your train table if you're using one. Overall this is an amazing train accessory, although it doesn't come at a cheap price. I paid $60, shipped and sold by Amazon. Be wary of third party sellers who will try selling this toy for 3x the market price.

My 3 year old was immediately interested in this mountain tunnel! Though we have other pieces he prefers to have a figure eight going around and around this tunnel because of the sounds. We got a motorized brio engine and so he peaks in the tunnel to watch as the train comes through, and sets off the sound effects. Overall I recommend this piece however, it could be improved. There is a button that can set off the sounds but you cannot choose which sound. My 3 year old would like if the button made the “ choo choo” sound each time. He sometimes is frustrated when the mining or engine noises come on instead. A separate button for the choo choo sound would be an improvement! Also, I agree with some of the other reviewers that the overpass tunnel is finicky and would be much improved if there were a way to connect the tracks in there. As it is the slightest touch unbalances them and then the train gets stuck. Makes me want to super glue the tracks in place but I worry I could ruin it if I don’t get them perfectly aligned. Another issue is that the crane unwinds very slowly and the arm of the crane does not move up and down, but Only rotates around. My son intuitively wants the crane arm to bend over and has tried to force it. He hasn’t broken it yet, and I think he will get used to the winding mechanism. I recommend buying additionally the light up brio gold cargo car and a motorized engine. Really add to the fun and there are two spots on the mountain for gold or coal cargo yet it only comes with one. Again, this is nitpicking. It’s overall a very nice addition to our track and my son enjoys it very much.

As a mom to five little ones, our Brio train set and all of its accessories have been our MOST used and MOST loved toy ever. I have a 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 year old and some one is ALWAYS creatively building and playing with the train set. The accessories are SO high quality and durable and well worth the price. The perfect gift!

5 stars. We paid $70 for this in April 2025. Probably overpaid, but it was for a birthday so timing was key. The set makes train noises (you don’t have to record them) when a car goes inside the set, super awesome! The crane conductor sits well on top and the crane has a strong enough magnet. The only criticism is that MANY cars can not fit through the upper tunnel, including ones from other BRIO sets. Fix this (need a 1/4 to 1/2 inch) and it’s a 10’star item.

My three year old loves the crane with operator, gold brick, and tunnel sound effects. He sometimes removes the top section with the crane to use separately so that is a useful play feature. It's also nice that there is a button to trigger the sound effects in addition to the effects triggering automatically when a train goes through the tunnel. My only significant complaint is that the slope track pieces do not lock in place and simply rest on top of a flat section within the mine tunnel. If the track is bumped from either side, this can result in the slope track pieces separating and needing to be reattached. It also would have been nice to see a second gold brick included as there are spots on the mountain for multiple bricks and it is a piece that could be easily lost.

Not 100% sure why but the sounds the tunnel makes when a train goes thru it, have kept my 3 year old grandson engaged (and surprised) for countless hours! It's a great addition to any train set up and the first thing he runs for when he's here. (We also have the brio parking garage with the elevator and ramp - which I thought would be more fun, but he barely looks at that. ) The crane is great and works well - easy for a 3 year old to operate. Definitely a huge win at our house!

This is super cool. It makes sounds by pushing a button or when a train goes through the tunnel. The top with the crane also comes off to be used separately. BY FAR THE BEST BRIO TOY I’VE EVER BOUGHT!!

Bra kvalitet. Gör ett ljud när man kör igenom tunneln. Rolig kran så att man kan hissa "guldet" upp och ner. Väldigt uppskattat av barnen, de har lekt med den här i många timmar.

Grandson loves the two routes through and the sounds which are different depending which direction you're travelling. Great addition to his Brio and certainly fun for the adults when making up the track too!
