TL;DR - The water bowl is excellent: durable, affordable, effective, easy to clean and use. The customer service team is dedicated. I’ll be buying more of these as gifts for my many dog owner friends. ———————-////—————— I got this dog bowl because I have a narrow kitchen & any bit of water is a slippery hazard; I hated constantly having to change a mat or a towel because it’s a high traffic area, prone to cooking messes, mud/dirt, and water. The water bowl works exactly as I’d hoped. The plastic ring keeps the floating disc securely in place, and the disc helps keep out random debris that would make the water dirty in a regular wide, open bowl. When the bowl is full of water, it’s heavy enough that my husky puppy has yet to spill it (she likes to put her paws into the bowls from which she eats/drinks) and I’ve had this product for a month now (spilled water bowl was an almost daily occurrence). The floating disc didn’t take much for my puppy to figure out. I filled up the water a little more than max capacity, so that the water pooled at the top of the disc. The puppy started drinking and continued to drink. I haven’t noticed that the disc it’s too hard to press down or the bowl is confusing for a dog to figure out. I was initially concerned about the material being plastic based; I have had bad experiences in the past with my animals (dogs & cats) developing health problems due to allergies to some plastic products. After a month of use, not a single adverse reaction! The material used is high quality and safe, which was my biggest worry before buying the product. Overall, this is a nifty little solution to the problem of water bowl messes, and the company offers a product at a price that makes it accessible to people on a budget. I love the product, and will definitely be buying another water bowl, if not more—I know lots of dogs who made Santa’s “Good Dog” list :) **Additionally, the customer support staff is wonderful & followed up with me after my purchase to ensure the product was working, dog figured it out, etc. For my response to their check in email, they mailed me a surprise holiday gift (portable, collapsible silicone food & water trays) of another great product. The travel bowl is silicone is dishwasher safe and high quality; I took it camping with me and it worked out perfect through all the hiking. Great service and great product!

I do like this bowl and feel it works perfect for most "normal" pets. However, I have a kitten that just loves splashing about in the water bowl and was previously tipping over the regular bowl. He decided from the first day I rescued him, that he was using the big dogs water bowl, as well as consistently bully the 70 pound german shepherd, and ignore his own smaller bowl. He eventually began to stick his paw in and shake it about in between sips...not every time. However, which each passing day, he became more curious. His name is Taco, but I should change it to George...or PITA (pain in the a$$) He tipped over a big bowl full of water more than once and that's why I ordered this bowl. Oh no..he thought I ordered him a new water toy. He would press down the floating disc to have more water appear, and start splashing again. The sumbeech even managed to tip it over. This 7 pound kitten has some hefty biceps. I ended up ordering a fountain...big mistake. Splashing MOVING water and bigger mess. So, returned the fountain and now using this bowl again. Homeboy submerged his entire paw in the water to push the disc all the way down, while he drank from the bowl. He is not a cat, he is a Labrador trapped in a felines form. This jerk is 2 splashes away from being confined to a bathtub for 2 life sentences of his 9 lives. All in all, the bowl is great and would work for a normal pet. I just happen to have a defiant MF'er that sometimes makes me regret walking by the woods that brisk September morning when I heard the sweetest meow you could ever hear. He makes up for his naughty behavior by giving ultimate cuddles and snuggles several times throughout the day and evening. No worries, we love the little ba$tard, just really hoping he grows out of this soon.

We got this two weeks ago and have been happy with it. Pros: Helps keep dirt from getting in water, especially when they have a beard full of it Keeps beard from getting very wet Minimizes spillage while drinking; the area the bowl doesn't get as wet Cons: It is a little difficult to take apart the two parts of the floating disk The outer plastic is brittle, and I wouldn't be surprised if it cracks at some point It may take the dog a little while to get used to it. We showed it to our puppy and held the disk down for the first few times so he would recognize that this is where he was going to get water. He is a quick learner and had no problem getting the hang of it, but it did take a little time on our part to accustom him to it. I would not expect every dog to "get it" right away. I wish that there were a line on the inside to tell me the maximum fill level. I keep filling it, and then when I go to put in the disk, it overflows. Of course, I could put the float in first and then fill it, but I keep forgetting. It would be nice to have the option to do it either way. The floating disk has two parts which I have only been able to separate by putting a fingernail in the groove and prying them apart. Once that first little separation occurs, they are easy to get apart (kind of like nested plastic containers). Overall, I would definitely get this bowl again. I only gave it four stars because of my perception of durability and the difficulty of getting the disk apart. I really like that it helps keep the water clean; I don't have to deal with a bunch of leaves and other random objects from outdoors in the bottom of the bowl. And, if your dog throws up from drinking too quickly, this will definitely prevent it!

I have only had this about a week, but it already appears to have thwarted by cavoodle's fav hobby of digging and splashing in his water bowl any time it is refilled, which is exactly why I got it. He is happy to drink out of it and I am happy to not be mopping up water all the time!

No more spills and my puppy loves drink from it
