Good news and bad news... First the good news. The mailbox works great in our rural location where theft was becoming a problem. Lots of room and the postal carrier gladly took a key for oversize items (medications and Amazon packages) that wouldn’t go down the chute. Sturdy. Looks great. Neighbors are purchasing the same model in droves. So now the bad news. Son-in-Law... purchased the same box with a steel post for their Christmas present. Still sitting in their garage. Insists he needs an excavation permit to dig the hole for the mailbox (same place as the old box). I even offered to dig the hole myself. Oh well, we have great grandkids...

the lock cylinder was stuck the key wouldn't go into the lock but they are sending me a new replacement lock and key set in a few days

This box is heavy and won't survive the trip well. The metal on the outside is strong but the welds are bad and I can see it is easy to compromise this unit. Mine was not usable but some defects were very apparent. It also lacks a flag and as most stated no keys either. The gap allows anyone to stick their arm in anyway. I can also see why leaks are an issue as there is no seals between any of the seams. If you do manage to get one in good shape you will have to seal it without a doubt. Let me also clarify that although most of the box uses welded studs and nuts to hold it together, the main part where the latch locks is just a tacky weld. A screwdriver could easily break it. It's that bad overall. I say pass on this headache sadly.

Found this at a fraction of the original price and very satisfied although the lock sticks and needs constant lubrication but I don’t consider that as a fault of the mailbox in general and can be replaced easily

The first one I ordered had a bad weld as you can see in the picture, they had another to me in 2 days, and picked up the old one at the same time. No charge. Works for me

This box only comes with 2 keys and you cannot get them remade or recut at a local hardware store. no one has the blanks. I didnt see it but this model does not come with a flag for mail pickup. I just took the old flag off the old box ... drilled a couple holes and pop rivited it on. Its fairly weather resistant to rain and snow but... condensation does build up in it.. its not weather proof and your mail will become damp if you dont get it daily.

I liked the large size of box. But found out it only takes a very small package in the theft proof door. I’m going to go with bigger regular mail box and hope nobody steals my mail. Jeffrey B Jordan
