Very nice quality junction box from Budd
Very nice quality junction box from the once mighty Budd Company in Detroit. Not sure who made this and maybe Budd is still around but I do not know or care. Using it to house a 120 VAC temperature controller off my garage breaker panel. (See photo) I am an electrical engineer and we easily paid 2 to 4 times this price for similar boxes for industrial applications over my 30+ years. I would have expected to pay more for this quality. Very pleased this was NOT a cheesy, flimsy tin box. Good seller - quick delivery without issues.

Great box, but expensive.
I bought this box to run 6 NM-B cables into. I could have use a 4 11/16 square box with blank cover, but this was in an attic, wired while standing on a tall step ladder, and I really wanted some extra room in the box. Even though I spent $15 on this box, it was so nice to have plenty of room for all 6 cables and it was a breeze to connect everything together and fold into the box. Quality was excellent and I have no complaints except for the price. $10 would be more reasonable.

More than just an electrical connection box!
After much research, I purchased this item to be used as a simple "lock box" to store keys and other such "things". I found this item to be a perfect solution as opposed to purchasing expensive "lock boxes" that need not be so sophisticated or expensive. The simple "lock screw" works perfectly fine for my needs as a key lock is not needed for my application. The box is well made, durable and perfect for my use ... especially because "I like to think outside the box"! Ha, Ha! You too may find a use for this beyond its typical electrical connection design/use! Thank you ... KCL

Good quality but manufacturer has known about knockout over-punching long enough to have fixed it.
This is a well made and nicely-painted box about the same gauge as a heavy 1900 box. However, you really have no choice but to use the full 1" knockout on the 1"/3/4" knockouts and the full 3/4" knocks on the 3/4"/1/2" knocks because the intermediate knockout rings are cut too aggressively so the whole knockout comes out. I only needed 3/4" knockouts, but was forced to use the on-inch ones because some of the intermediate cuts between the inner and outer cuts on the 1"/3/4" knocks were cut completely through. It was not critical in my application because there are no code compliance issues and I am using grommets, not box connectors. It is also offered in box with no knockouts.

Nice electrical box that can be used outside.
I needed a box that would hold two separate power sources and this box worked great. Very sturdy and can be locked to keep kids from messing with it. It worked great. The old one I had was very hard to fit the two smaller boxes in to protect them from the weather.

Outstanding electrical box...
BUD Industries JBH-4956-KO Steel NEMA 1 Sheet Metal Box 4" L x 6" W x 8" H, GraySteel is 16 gauge (.062"), the painting is perfect, the door is perfect, it can be "locked" with a flat blade screw driver (or a quarter). Outstanding product!

I expected better from Bud!
The spot welds that hold the knockouts to the box were too big on one side of the box. When I went to knock the rings out, instead of being attached in only two places, they were also attached by the weld for the inner disk knockout (see pic). I spent far too long trying to get it free without bending the box; good thing it wasn't yet mounted where it was going - 10 ft off the ground. Additionally, it left behind very large chunks that I had to use a grinder on so I could get my conduit fittings in the hole (see pic). Some of the interior paint wasn't smooth, also. I've used Bud boxes for several projects over the years and those usually exceeded my expectations - this one was well below my expectations from those experiences. Maybe I got a trainee's first box for Bud, but their inspectors should have caught the oversized welds before I had to deal with them. Do your knockouts >before< you mount the box, if you don't already (good luck if you have to add some later)! Three stars for a solid box, after you work on it for a while.
