Solid. There is nothing to come apart.

Q: Are these shapes compatible with the tangrams also sold by learning resources? Are they of similar size and the same thickness?

I ordered both the Learning Reources Tangrams and these Pattern Blocks to try with Saxon Math. The tangrams were the wrong scale to use with Saxon Math, but this set works perfectly for the Saxon worksheets. I also found free printables at TeachersPayTeachers that were perfectly sized to use with these.

Quite pleased

My 2 year-old daughter loves playing with it - fun and educational. The only thing is - because the shapes are not fixed in place, they are very easily moved around by accident; it can be a bit of a problem for a small child (and somewhat frustrating for the 'supervisor'), but on the other hand - the child gets to learn how to put them back in place. Overall - very satisfying purchase.

Shapes, colors, patterns...the learning opportunities and fun are endless!

After seeing some great Pinterest posts on using pattern blocks, I purchased some for my 3 1/2 year old daughter. These are a great product that are incredibly versatile. We use them for free-play and for structured activities alike. These are sturdy and colorful. On some days, we enjoy just making crazy shapes and patterns with them using our imaginations. Other times, I will download pre-printed patterns and my daughter uses these to replicate the patterns on the paper like a puzzle. These are great for shape and color recognition and fine motor development. An incredibly versatile product to add to the "toybox" or homeschool toolbox.
