I wanted a nice simple shaving mug for soaps or creams. This is a really nice mug, holds the heat, just deep enough for building a great lather. Top it off it looks great in the bathroom by the sink. Nice weight and balance.

Fits nicely in the hand. I'm using Henry Cavendish Shaving Soap with Shea Butter & Coconut Oil in it, which is a rather thick puck. It doesn't leave a huge amount of space for working up a lather, but there is space. I can't imagine that a smaller mug would work very well with such a size as that. First use, the puck moves around a lot since the mug is wider than the puck, but once its dried up once it stays put and getting a lather going is not much of a task. Can you get by with a cheaper container? Sure, I imagine so. But the shape of this guy is very convenient for building a lather and the little thumb grip really helps to hold onto it comfortably. I didn't buy this to put in an display case for guests to ogle, so the large branding printed on it doesn't bother me at all. Update 25-Jan-2015: I just wanted to add here that my mug recently took a fall from the top of our toilet reservoir to the floor, landing on its side, and emerged undamaged. YMMV

Perfect size for lathering without making a big mess. Handle makes for easy holding even with wet hands. Looks nice on the counter. Feels high quality.

This mug is perfect and works better than I could of hoped for. I am new to wet shaving and was mixing the cream incorrectly which lead to a poor shave. After realizing my mistake I ordered this mug due to Parker's great shave brush and customer service. While waiting for this to arrive, I used an oversized mug, but had issues with depth and was "clinking" my brush. When I received this mug, I was very pleased with appearance and quality. Some reviews noted that this was too large, but it is absolutely perfect. Only improvement I would suggest, is where the handle attaches to the cup, there is an indentation on the inside that soap gets kinda trapped in, if you do a poor job rinsing. Other than that, great product and very happy! Highly recommended.

This is a great apothecary-style shaving mug. The finish is wonderful. The main reason I bought this mug was for building a lather in my shower for my quicker wet shaves in the shower. When I want a more relaxed shave and have more time, I actually prefer using a shaving scuttle, which will keep the lather hotter, but this mug keeps it warm for the first two passes. It's not too big, which for my application was a plus, as I needed something that would fit in a small suction-cup shower shelf. It fits fine due to it's size on my shelf and it was perfect for my needs. This being said, be aware that there is not a whole lot of room for maneuvering your brush around without 'clanking' it against the side of the mug. This doesn't particularly bother me, but some people might gripe about that if size of the mug, i.e., it's compactness was not a needed feature and you might want to look for a more flared mug that is more roomy if this was to be your sole shaving mug/bowl. But, as stated, I have a nice scuttle for using for my relaxed, post-shower sink shaves; this mug is perfect for my quicker in-shower shaves. Another thing the manufacturer might consider adding would be some bumps or ridges to the bottom or inside edges to assist with building a lather. I have no problem building one in this mug, but with the limited size, some bumps or ridges would speed up the process. These are both very minor 'gripes, however, and I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Update 7/9/2023 - still using and still going strong, even after going through LOTS of washes in the dishwasher. Will definitely buy from this brand again for gifts, whether for my (now) husband or family! Thank you for making a great product! Purchased this item with a brush on December 20, 2014 for my boyfriend. He loves it! Uses it all the time. I have washed and dried through the dishwasher I don't know how many times, and not a single chip, crack, or anything. Very sturdy, well made product. Hopefully I won't need a replacement but if i need an additional one, will definitely purchase this again!

I really like the nub that sticks out, you hook it with your thumb and you can hold the mug steady. The size of this mug is too big! I have a vintage Old Spice shaving mug that’s much smaller but still holds a 3” soap puck and it works much better.

It holds the soap well doesn't get too hot in the microwave when melting col conk into it. It's not perfectly round a little oblong but perfect for my minimalist shave set up. Second shave mug I've ever owned,lost my old spice vintage one in tűrkiye

Proudly stamped with Made in the USA on the bottom, this shaving mug is nicely made and had no visible defects. Not much else to say about it, it's a shaving mug. Put some soap in it and lather!

Not plastic, but porcelain shaving mug. Easy to hold onto for whipping up lather with your brush. Nice heft to this mug and will last a lifetime. My grandson will probably inherit this.

I ordered this item for my son for Christmas, but when I opened the box the ceramic is all cracked. Very disappointed that I'm not able to return this item or have it replaced. Not recommended for purchase.

I use pre-de-provence shaving soap and had been looking for a mug specifically that would fit that soap exactly. This is the right size and is a nicely designed mug, hefty and ergonomically designed to grip easily even with wet hands.

Avoid this item. Arrived today with cracks inside handle. Won't last long like this. It will break. No return or exchange allowed. Avoid this item at all cost.
