Does this have the automatic shutoff? My usage is for the outdoor pool over the winter placed under thecover

Following up on Kevin A's recommendation, there are two models of the accessory switch. The RS-5 (599008) turns on when the water level rises to 6-9 inches and off at 1-4 inches. Little Giant RS-5LL (599014) remote switch turns on when the water level rises to 2-3 inches and off at 0.5-1.5 inches. These are the manufacturer's specs when used with the 5-MSP submersible utility pump. Both models "bolt on" to the side of the pump with self-tapping screws and use a separate power cord with a piggyback outlet to control the pump. My experience is that they work decently, as long as you don't block the small plastic tube built into the cord.

Can you use this pump to drain a hot tub? I keep the water temp at 103 is that too hot for the pump to work?

We used to use this same pump to drain our hot tub. Worked great. I do not think 103˚ would hurt this pump. You would NOT want to drain the tub with the heaters still connected to power, so why not just wait a little bit and let it cool down a little. I would worry about the output hose more than the pump. Just no logic to pumping it hot.

Hello- this pump should work fine as long as your pipe runs and elevation changes are minimal , please be sure it is completely submerged.

How long can the pump run for? If I need it to drain a pool would it be ok to keep running?

yes it can be used, definitely upsize hose to 1.5" using an adapter that goes up to a larger size (home depot, lowes tractor supply, or I am sure they have them here on Amazon) - also consider the size of your pool (number of gallons, in ground or above ground) if it is an inground with a bottom drain - I would use the main filter pump set to bypass to waste as that pump will pump way faster than this 1/6 HP pump also using larger diameter discharge - you can use either PVC (preferably) or that heavy duty reenforced flexible hose (as large diameter as output outlet can fit) and run it out to area where you are draining water (for me I use nearest Storm Drain - in fact I ran a 2" UV resistant solid PVC under ground, under driveway edge block (not under the driveway where you park your car - off to edge so weight of car doesn't break PVC as asphalt settles. Then at end of driveway had curb core drilled for the 2" Pipe flush with curb so backwash, water changes and/or pool draining follows curb to nearest storm drain - my pool is approximately 36,000 gallons so with this 1/6 HP/115V pump operating at 800 GPH with larger outlet pipe and reasonable head pressure (800 GPH) would take 45-48 hours if run continuously vs less than 7 hours using my 1.5 HP / 220V main filter pump using bottom drain -also less risk of Little Giant overheating - must use heavy duty extension cord to provide adequate current (minimum 16/14 AWG, 14/12AWG for long runs) and avoid voltage drop (if extension cord gets warm after a couple of hours running then cord is too light for the length - either shorten corn or increase AWG
