I recently purchased the UGREEN plug extender and I'm really happy with it. It's a great little gadget that adds a lot of versatility to my power outlets. I especially like that it has two USB ports and one USB-C port, so I can easily charge my phone, tablet, and other devices without having to use a separate charger. This Plug Extender is a great idea if you have a single socket that you want to use for all the items on your desk. It has three UK 3-pin mains sockets, two USB-A sockets and a USB-C socket. The output from the USB side of things can total 30W and the combined maximum load on the three mains sockets must not exceed 13A. The extender is fitted with a 13A fuse. This should be more than enough for most desks! The extender feels heavy and well made. The mains sockets are shuttered, as required by regulations. A sensible feature, but poorly executed on this device, is the provision of screwed pads that can be extended to the wall beneath the socket to stop forward pressure and the weight of items it is powering stressing the wall plug as things are plugged in, or left hanging from it. I say poorly executed because the screws are quite loose in the threads and are not long enough to reach a wall even when used with the thinnest of wall sockets. I solved these problems by putting PTFE tape on the thread to make it tighter (Loctite would have been better) and adding a couple of adhesive rubber feet to the pads (see photographs). Obviously on an item costing this much this should have been unnecessary. Make sure, if you are using this above a desk, that you have enough room for it to hang beneath the socket without hitting it. Spacing between the sockets is large enough for mains plugs and for some adapters, but that will obviously depend on what you are using - the spacing is not as great as a standard twin socket. Used in a double socket the advantage of this device is lessened. One of the existing sockets is used for the extender and the other is covered by it - you lose two and get three. It is possible to plug a few things into the “covered” socket, but the range is limited, as you can see from my photographs. The power from the USB outlets is fair at 30W and the provision of USB-C is very useful, as this seems to be the new standard for a lot of devices. I would like to have seen individual switches on each of the sockets so that things that can be completely disconnected from the supply and not end up using unnecessary standby power.

The 3 way plug extender arrived in a branded cardboard box, inside the extender was in a plastic bag for protection. As I unboxed to check it over I firstly noticed how well made it is, I like the finish on the plastic, it has a lovely smooth texture and rounded corners to it, the design is slick and the ports are spaced out nicely. I noticed that it has adjustment screws on the back to take up the gap between the wall and the extender, I have not noticed this before on other extenders and it works really well to stabilise it when connecting the plugs. The extender has 3 UK plug inputs along the front, 1 x PD 30W USB-C port & 2 x 18W USB-A ports along the front also but near the top. Safety features include: overheat, overload, overcurrent, ground protection, safety door, surge protector and flame-retardant materials used. Overall, I like the build quality and the design, Ideal option to extend a single gang plug, you can use it on a 2 gang but it will make the other socket redundant unless you have a small plug and cable, 30w quick charge capable using the USB-C output, has a dim white power light to the front, I like the adjustment feet on the back, stylish looking, happy to recommend, thank you.

the unit has 3 uk plug sockets and 2x usb-a and 1x usb-c connections, it also features a handy adjuster on the back to help prevent it tipping and unplugging itself when applying pressure to the sockets which exerts leverage onto the plug. the appearance is also much nicer than most other versions of this kind of extension product. i use several around the house and they always look cheap and tacky but this is very smart and would be fine even used somewhere prominent I think. there is a pretty generous spacing between the sockets to allow for larger transformer style plugs but you will need to pay some attention to what is plugged in where as you could still block the usb ports or if there is another wall socket plugs which extend above the pins rather than below may end up interfering, likewise the bulk of the unit may prevent plugs with a cord coming out of the bottom of the plug from being plugged into an empty socket besides the one this is plugged into. nothing that some minimal lateral thinking couldn't work out a solution for though.

This plug extender is well built and includes overload, overcurrent, and ground protection. It also allows superfast charging via the USB C port which is particularly useful as most equipment is now going down the USB C route. The design has been well thought out and I particularly like the screw out feet on the rear which press to the wall and stop the plug moving around in use. The black finish looks much classier and less obvious than a white finish in my kitchen and having a spare socket means I no longer have to unplug my toaster to use the blender and I can give my mobile a quick top up when I'm cooking. At the time of review, the extender has a 20% off voucher making it £28 which I think is a decent price when it includes surge protection and thermal guard protection.
