Nut threads on tube are very delectate and can strip out with just hand pressure.
These ups work pretty well. The chickens picked right up on using them. There are two problems with the cups, first the nut can only be hand tightened this leads to problems if a chicken nudges the cup it can moved to the side thus draining out the water from the bucket. Try using a square bucket like repurpose an old cat litter bucket and this may help the problem. Second the instructions stated that the cup should be installed 1 inch from the bottom of the bucket. It needs to be installed more than 2 inches up the side of the bucket because you have to have clearance on the bottom. Otherwise, you have to let the cup hang over in midair to prevent pressure on the tube from whatever you have it sitting on and eventually causing the cup tube to leak. The cups do fill without running over as long as the cup remains perpendicular to the ground.

Cups Work Great! Rent A Coop Customer Service Is Outstanding
These cups work great! We have really hard water and they have not been affected at all. Note: we don't use them outside for chickens, we use them inside for our pet rats. The rats seem to really like having a pool of water they can drink from and scoop up water from to wash up.There was a problem with the description. We contacted Rent A Coop directly and they made everything right! This was the second issue we had and the first one wasn't even their fault and they still took care of us at no additional charge.

Clean, easy, and healthiest for my chickens!!
Best and cleanest watering solution I’ve found for my chickens!! I don’t like nipple waterers because I don’t feel like they get enough water. I don’t like the cup ones that require the bird to peck a yellow tab because again, they won’t get enough water due to them having to do some weird task. I feel like they will give up before hydrating enough. These cups are awesome though. The water is right there and accessible all the time. The cups work by filling automatically until the weight of the water closes the tap. No overflowing and water is always there! Before buying these, I was just using an open 2 gallon bucket of water. They would get it dirty and poop in it, but I’d just change the water daily. Meh.My one small complaint is the cups themselves aren’t easy to clean while attached to the full bucket of water. I can’t turn and pour them out, and bouncing and splashing the cups doesn’t really work. I just sort of scoop at the water dishes to remove the sand or bedding out of the bottom of the cup, which works well enough. They really don’t get that dirty, just the stuff that happens to be in the hens beaks when they take a sip. These are also VERY easy to install. It takes a couple of minutes to drill holes and screw them in, and there is no leaking at all. I used a brand new Home Depot bucket with a lid.Tip: place the lid lightly on top of the bucket so the water can flow freely into the cups. With an airtight lid, a vacuum will form inside the bucket and not allow water to flow. Another option is to drill a very small hole into the lid to just allow a little air.Rent-a-coop also included a spare watering cup!!! They didn’t even advertise it, so I was so pleased to see they just give you an extra just in case!!! Awesome waterer and an awesome company. I’ll definitely be buying more stuff from them in the future!

Removable cups were not removable for me
They worked to supply water to pulleys when installed on small bucket however the feature to remove the inside cup to easily clean the water neither my husband or I could ever get to work. Had to use old fashioned way of turning cup to dump water and clean it out. Fact I specifically bought for the removable cup is why I ranked 3 stars. Wouldn’t buy again

My girls are happy and that makes me happy
I bought the RentACoop chicken water cup to replace the pecking kind of water cup. I wanted a large, clean source of water for my girls that they couldn't knock over. After I installed the original "peck" cups - ones where the chicken pecks at a yellow stopper to make the water flow - I wasn't entirely satisfied. So I bought these cups and am so glad I did.Physically, you can see from the picture that they're much larger than the pecking cups. One big problem I had with the pecking cups is they'd be dry when I'd check. I saw the girls peck at them, but I was worried they weren't getting enough water. I live in a hot, humid climate and making sure they get enough water is very important. I like that these cups are always filled, which I think attracts the birds to drink more. Also, you can see in the picture that these come with a rubber washer and wing nut, which didn't come with the pecking ones. Installing the pecking ones, I used plumbers tape but still got a slow water ooze around the spout. I added some silicone around the hole but there was always a slow drip wetness around the base of the waterer. I took out the pecking cup and installed the new cup in the same hole (same size), with the rubber washer on the outside and tightened with the wing nut. It was so easy and I felt satisfied it was installed well. I've never seen one drop of water since. Little thing but made a big difference.I also like that the water is clean (I use a bucket with a good lid). My original waterers sat on the ground and always had a lot of dirt in the bases, even though I cleaned them several times a week. No longer a problem, although their beaks do drop dirt reside in the waterer cups. It settles to the bottom so there's still plenty of clean water in the cup. I just scoop out the dirt with my finger but it's really not a big deal, it's normal for birds who dig around in the dirt all day! I also freeze water in metal loaf pans during the summer; the ice bricks pop out easily then I drop them in the bucket to keep the water cool (without having to empty out our ice maker all the time... I'm looking at you, husband!).RentACoop even sent me an extra water cup with a little card, which was so nice. I debated how many cups to get and ended going with the smaller number, so I really appreciated getting an extra one as well as the personal touch. I would buy from them again and am really happy with these water cups.I am not part of a freebie network, and I did not receive these for free; I paid with my own money that I work to earn so this is truly my honest opinion. I installed them and they were in use for about a month before I wrote this.
