CRC Extreme Duty Open Gear & Chain Lube 03058 – 12 Wt Oz., Industrial Grade Lubricant w/ Moly and Graphite

WD 40 seems to be my go to however it wasn't really working for more than a day on the boat lift. This lube is tacky and kind of penetrating and foaming at the same time. It has lasted all summer.

Will work great on my 3 point snowblower chain drive.

This is the real deal, have been trying too find a lube that will not fling off a gearbox that has an input of 17K rpm and an output of 2K. Have tried motorcycle chain lubes, other brand name open gear lubes and the best up to this CRC lube was a Dupont dry lube -only issues with this dry stuff was noisy. Now using this CRC lube, applied buy spraying into a container then using a small brush to coat the gears. The spray application is kinda messy for my purpose of lubing a gearbox that is smaller then your hand. Easily cleans with brake cleaner and rag. I found after applying with brush, spin the gearbox very slowly to ensure proper distribution then allowing to set over night (smells petroleum like) to set-up, works like a charm! It may set-up quicker but never checked. This lube will add a little friction vs a dry lube as it is very sticky but will make straight-cut gears gears whisper quite.

Good product works well, but wear gloves and old clothing as this will stain like a mother. I used the product on my garage door chains and sprockets. Sprayed the product in a large disposable cup and used a varnish brush to spread on the chains. Also, pretty strong smelling stuff. Smell did disapate after a few days.

I don't use it for it intended use, I spray it as undercoating on all my vehicles in September before winter, main ingredient is 'asphalt', have a 2008 HHR that lived in New England it whole life, its has no rust and hardware is easier to remove when needs to. 2 cans do a vehicle, 3 for full size truck

Great for gears. Hard to get off hands. Needed to use a metal brush and mineral spirits. 3/5
