Still going strong!
Contains Spoilers. Initially I was very sceptical about buying Assassins Creed Odyssey as it looked a little too similar to Origins in regards to mechanics, visuals and game play but after playing for around 15 hours I can safely say that this is a must buy in the series! If you liked Origins then there is no way that this will be a disappointment. In fact I believe it is far superior to Origins. I was worried at first that Odyssey would pretty much be a copy and paste of Origins. For the most part it is, but it still feels very much like a game of its own and stands out distinctly in the series. In fact one of the best! I have always considered Black Flag and Brotherhood to be my favourites in the series and this would easily come in as my third favourite. In fact if the game keeps going as strongly as this throughout then I would even consider putting this as my second favourite or even my all time favourite, its that good.Where this game shines is its combat mechanics and story. The mechanics feel the same but more has been added to give it a whole other layer. You can now assign special abilities that are unlocked the more you level up and can be used to great effect in combat. They are divided in two areas (melee and long range) and can be used once you have dealt enough damage or have performed successful dodges and parry's etc. They are assigned to hot keys, so by pressing LB/LT and then A B X or Y this performs a special ability. An example of one is you are able to perform the "Spartan Kick" that knocks enemy backwards and is just insanely fun. Another example is that your able to fire arrows at 3 separate enemies at once whilst in combat which is extremely effective when your up against multiple enemies. There are many of these types of abilities in the game and you can assign 8 altogether that can be used in real time in combat. This new system really adds more depth, diversity and fun.I immediately fell in love with the characters and the greek setting. Its without doubt the most beautiful looking AC to date and its no wonder as Greece itself is one the most breathtaking places there is. Out of all the AC games I believe this is the best as far as storytelling. I have never been this gripped in an AC storyline before and it holds one of the most compelling stories in any game I have ever played period. Already there are twists and turns and all the while it is being carried along by interesting and charismatic characters. Alexio is now my favourite AC character since EZIO.A big surprise for me was the fact that you can also take command of your own ship which I wasn't aware was a part of the game! Not only that, there are many upgrades and cosmetics you can apply to it aswel. You can even hire lieutenants that can be recruited in the world and will aid you in combat when you board other ships and they can be used in the world to distract your enemies. Other game play options include hunting down mercenaries, cultists, and acquiring miscellaneous missions from jobs boards (land and sea) I also find that side missions are far more enjoyable than they were in Odyssey. One of the main goals is to reduce the amount of power that the Athaneans hold in Greece, district by district. Once this is done in a certain area, you can then take part in a big scale battle, which if you emerge victorious, it will be handed over to Spartan control. Additionally you have the option to take the Athenian's side or just put yourself as the neutral party and set both factions against each other. My only negatives are that I wish they would bring back more stealth mechanics such as blending and distractions. I also wish there was more counter attacking abilities in the combat like there were in the older games where if you timed it right your character would automatically perform some bad ass finishing move and you could streak your strikes onto other nearby enemies. I still prefer the older mechanics as is was more about how you defend yourself rather than hacking and slashing. Having said that, the combat is still immensely fun, I just find that the way combat was handled in the older games, felt more in line how an actual Assassin would have performed. So just when we thought that the AC series has lost all steam, it comes back swinging with this release and it does not disappoint.

Good edition to the series
I have always been a fan of the assassins creed games although there have been some misteps over the years. And there may be a case that it is losing the assassins creed original feel but as a game in its own right it is great.Origins was in my opinon excellent, and i liked the update to the fight mechanics. Odyssey feels familiar to this, plays fantastically and looks awesome.Despite the short time between Odyssey and Origins i feel Ubisoft have still managed to produce and excellent game in a new environment, also, side missions are no longer monotonous rinse and repeat missons but worth exploring as much as the main story line

Brilliant game, must play!
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Limited Edition for Xbox One is an incredible gaming experience that takes the franchise to new heights. Set in ancient Greece during the Peloponnesian War, the game offers a vast, stunning open world to explore, filled with breathtaking landscapes, vibrant cities, and detailed historical landmarks. The story is deeply engaging, with branching narratives that truly make your choices matter. Playing as either Alexios or Kassandra, you’re thrust into a gripping tale of family, betrayal, and destiny. The dialogue options and decision-making mechanics give a personal touch to the journey, making it feel like your story rather than a predetermined path. The gameplay is excellent, blending classic Assassin’s Creed elements with new RPG mechanics. The combat is fluid and satisfying, with a variety of weapons, abilities, and combat styles to experiment with. Naval battles are a standout feature, bringing back the thrill of open-sea adventures and adding layers of strategy. The Limited Edition extras exclusive to Amazon.co.uk make this version even better. The included bonus content adds extra missions and gear, giving fans more to enjoy while enhancing the overall experience.Visually, the game is stunning, with vibrant colors, intricate character designs, and a level of environmental detail that makes ancient Greece feel alive. The dynamic weather and day-night cycle further add to the immersion. While the size of the map and the number of side quests can feel overwhelming at times, it also means there’s always something to do. Whether you’re diving into deep story missions, completing contracts, or just exploring the world, Odyssey never feels dull.Overall, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Limited Edition is a phenomenal game that combines an epic story, rewarding gameplay, and breathtaking visuals. A must-have for fans of the series and anyone who loves open-world RPGs.

Possibly the best in the franchise
I've been a fan of the franchise since I first played AC II. It's had its ups and its downs, but AC Odyssey is right up there with the best of them, if not the best yet!The story line is a good one, and the fact your choices impact the outcome of the overall Odyssey, keeps you engaged mentally. There's so much content it'll keep you playing for hours on end.I was worried there'd be a lot of sea battles/missions, which I don't really enjoy (and is why AC Black Flag was a dud for me), but fortunately they're fairly minimal as part of the main story. Its a shame there are still a few glitches, so I recommend getting in the habit of saving the game before you start the main story line missions. This will also give you the opportunity to replay and change your mind if you think you've made a wrong decision, so not a bad thing.Overall its easy to give it 5/5, as I've certainly got my money's worth out of it when paying full price, so with it now getting cheaper its a bargain.
