The O'Brien XL water saddle is made of a 2" thick 5-ply poly foam that will not deflate, even after repeated use. The water saddle allows your arms and legs freedom of movement while soaking in the pool, lake, or Ocean. Foam material dries quickly for storage. The extra large water saddle is designed with 10" diameter leg openings. 32"L x 16"w.

but seem to be way more durable and overall more superior. I floated comfortably
We purchased two of these and two others (WoW Watersports orange saddle floats), and after our trip to the lake yesterday, I've ordered two more of these. The O'Brien floats are not only thicker, but seem to be way more durable and overall more superior. I floated comfortably, at just above shoulder depth, behind our boat for hours. I'm a big guy (6'3"-270) and was pleased that it held me at that level. These things are great (so far) and we look forward to using them all summer.

Finally, a float for heavier folks that works!
I’m a very heavy person (over 300lb) and finding a float where I can sit comfortably in the water and not sink is an incredible challenge. This one fits the bill perfectly! Easy and comfortable to sit on, and keeps my head and shoulders well above the waterline. Even with a 100lb kid hanging onto my back, I still floated high! Looks like it’s going to hold up well, too-definitely not flimsy foam like the cheap pool noodles. A little pricey but worth it-I’ve spent so much money on things that ultimately didn’t work well for me, I wish I had found this sooner. Thanks O’Brien for making something that actually works for plus size people, and doesn’t make us look or feel totally ridiculous trying to stay afloat!

I love this, I'm about 250 lbs and it hold me up with my shoulders out of the water, It appears well made. It is flexible in the water but stiff enough to be used as a flutter board too. I find it very comfortable. I'm super happy with it.

X-Large saddle. Five Stars.
O'Brien Foam Water Saddle, X-Large - I looked at all the water saddles available on Amazon and noticed that there were a lot of complaints about the buoyancy of the product. Many complaints were that the water saddle would not keep an average 170 lb man afloat. I ordered the X-Large saddle and there's plenty of buoyancy for a 190 lb man. I also thought the neck of the saddle would be flimsy and eventually tear off, but that's not the case. It's a well-built saddle and I use it nearly every day, with no signs of wearing or tearing. Due to the texture of the saddle, you'll need to wear a swimsuit with a crotch in it, otherwise, it may rub your skin and become uncomfortable to use. Five Stars.

It causes great discomfort on the inner thigh when using the product ...
Product returned. Beware of the sandpaper-like rough seams where the three ply floatation material is glued together. It causes great discomfort on the inner thigh when using the product as it is designed (to sit on in the water.

Rigid, not comfortable.
I am a 5'2" 120 lb female. I was somewhat disappointed in the comfort of this float. I bought this because it looks sturdier than others on the market. That was the problem. It is so thick and rigid that it was uncomfortable on my bare legs. There was no give. It did do a great job of holding me up in the water, actually higher than the 2 others I tried. Perhaps on a male who has swim trunks on the discomfort would not be an issue. I bought this for my husband, and the smaller on for me; the smaller one was even more uncomfortable.

Too big and don’t work as well as floaty panty
I didn’t realize how big these are- comes up to my hip and they don’t work as wellas the floaty pants. You need to think about balancing on them. I bought for our boat and lake trip - but I’m definitely going back to the floaty pants. I thought they would be the same floating sensation and they weren’t as dorky as the diaper look. But when your in the lake you can’t sew them anyways. Maybe best for a pool because it can almost double as a backboard. But does not beat the floaty pants or a similar design.

Great for the price.
I know other water saddles have a smooth coating to ensure less friction against the legs, but you can’t beat the price on these. If you’re an adult, you’ll definitely want the XL size. I got one of these and one of the smaller original size. The OG is even too small for me and I’m a pretty small woman. This larger size work for both me and my husband. The kids like the smaller one, so we are keeping it, too.
