Bluelink Pro Interface - Clip On Bluetooth Data Transfer Device for Scuba Dive Computers

I use this Mares Bluelink device with my daughters Mares Puck Pro dive computer. The Puck Pro, and other similar devices came out over 10 years ago. As such, it’s difficult to find current app support, as well as a functional interface to download data from such an old-design dive computer to a current 2022+ smart device like an iPhone or iPad. This BLUELINK device makes it super quick & easy, and I use the “Subsurface-Mobile” app to keep an ongoing digital dive log for my daughter!

Its great for not having to input data your self line by line on dive log

The only purpose for this device is to make a Bluetooth connection between some of Mares dive computers with a device with Bluetooth connection. It is well made, does the job as advertise and by itself deserves 5 stars. I use the device with the Mares Smart Apnea Dive Computer (watch) and an Android device. The problem is in the apps that have to accept and visualize the info from the dive computers. At the moment of writing this review there are two Android apps for the purpose: 1) The MySSI app is available for Android and iOS. It is not made by Scuba Schools International. This app can connect via Mares PC Interface for Blue Link (Mares Bluelink Pro Interface) to a suitable Mares dive computers and can extract and visualize the Dive Log from the computer and that is all (no other actions, in particular, no firmware updates!). But to do this one needs to make a registration via the Internet (to one of the SSI's Digital programs) and after this the logs can be saved on some sites. Why this is needed to see data from a dive computer? Why the logs cannot be stored locally on the Android device? If one make the needed registration, then the logs can be viewed and visualized without saving them while the Bluetooth connection between the devices is alive. 2) The Mares Bluelink app is developed by Mares. There is no registration here. The interface is similar to the one of MySSI app. At the moment of writing this review the app only can show and visualize the log data from suitable dive computer while the Bluetooth connection is alive. The data cannot be saved locally on the Android device I give the app 4 stars for the lack of a good app for connection with it. As an alternative to this device I would recommend the Mares Dive Interface Link 2 USB SmartPuck Pro Quad (https://www.amazon.com/Mares-Dive-Link-Adapter-Grey/dp/B01M0SUP1V/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_3) This device connects the compatible Mares dive computers to a PC and via the PC program Dive Organizer by Mares one can do much more actions than with the above mentioned two apps, in particular one can update the firmware.

I like that it allows interface with my IPad. The connection are a little tenuous and slow.

I have a Mares puck pro and this worked flawlessly in transferring my dive log to my SSI app.

It is rare that something performs better than I expected but this was so easy to use that I am very impressed. It’s battery powered and as soon as I lined up the metal prongs on the BlueLink with the contacts on my Mares Quad dive computer, my last 6 dives transferred over to the SSI app on my iPhone in about 30 seconds. This thing is great.

Shipment on time and received. Unresponsive when hooked up to Puck Pro +. Hope it's just a dead battery. Would have been nice to have battery shipped separate and new.

Works with MySSI on my iPhone as advertised, however, the fact is if you ever want to update the firmware, you have to buy the connector with the USB hardwired connection so you can use their Dive Organizer software. I just bought both the Quad and this blue tooth connector. The verbiage in the Amazon and other seller's write ups say that you can use this to upgrade the firmware. THIS IS NOT TRUE. The Quad came with the old firmware installed and after receiving an email from Mares support confirming this, I now need to spend another $50 to do the firmware upgrade. My computer has blue tooth, however, there is no way to connect it to their program. Unbelievable that this is not possible through both connectors. Shame on the manufacturer to force the purchase of this USB connector to keep their product up to date and shame on the sellers to falsely state that the blue tooth device can allow the update.
