Nice at a price!
I received this bottle of black cumin seed oil for review. It came in a dark glass bottle, with a metal lid that is sealed with foil. The whole bottle was wrapped in bubble wrap. I was keen to try it out, so a dolloped a few drops onto a spoon straight away. The oil tastes really fresh and flavoursome — perfect for adding a boost to salads and / or cooking. Knowing it’s food-grade really gives me peace of mind and I feel safe using it. The oil can be used in cooking or in beauty products. As a grizzled 52 year old man, I’ll stick to the cooking! I drizzled this over a curry and it went really well. One thing to note is that a single 250ml bottle can be quite expensive compared to other cooking oils, so it’s a bit of an investment. Also, this oil is not recommended for frying or high-heat cooking, so it’s best used in dressings or low-heat applications. I’m happy to recommend this Natura Harmony oil for it’s flavour and possibly for something that you wouldn’t usually be able to buy in the shops. Would I buy it myself? I’m afraid that’s a no. The price is just far too restrictive for me at over a tenner for a 250ml bottle.

Something different, being used up
Reviewed as part of Amazon Vine Good design, colours stand out. Glass bottles always a win with me. I tend to put a bit of all sorts of oils on my salads, I eat salad most days all year round. Have added it to salads with no problem, used with balsamic vinegar and goes well. Not seen anything similar to this in my local shop so I wouldn’t have tried it or been aware of it without Amazon. £14.49 for a bottle is a but expensive but oils are expensive and I pay way more for balsamic vinegar. Definitely different taste to olive oil and is being used which is a good sign

Premium quality oil at a premium price
These Natura Harmony oils are great quality and a nicely presented, but they do come at a premium price. The bottle arrives protected by bubble wrap, which is good as it's glass. It's a good looking, nicely designed bottle, with useful information clearly printed on the label. There's even a black foil seal around the metal cap, making it look very fancy. The oil itself is nice quality. Very clear and pure. It's has a pleasant aroma and a nutty flavour. The poppy seed taste definitely comes through. It's great drizzled on salads, and can be used in baking and cooking. It's not suitable for frying though, as the oil has a very low smoke point. Such is the clarity of the oil, you can even use it as a beauty product. This is clearly a very high quality oil, and that's reflected in the price. While I appreciate that the extraction of pure oils from certain nuts and seeds can be time consuming and costly, I still feel that, at the current price of £12.99, this poppy seed oil is a tad overpriced for what it is. For that reason alone, I don't feel I can give it full marks overall.

Nice delicate oil
I've tried this oil as a salad dressing and drizzling on some noodle after cooking - something like the way I'd use sesame oil. Like sesame oil, this oil has a low flashpoint so you wouldn't cook with it directly, but it doesn't scorch when applied to food just cooked. It has a spicy and nutty flavour but subtle - works well with a drop of lemon or lime juice. I think you could eke it out by adding a little to olive oil based dressings, just to add a little extra dimension. On a point of horticulture, the plant Nigella sativa is not cumin as you might know it - its more related to fennel. You have probably come across the seeds as "black onion seeds" in Asian cooking, but they are variously called Black Cumin, Fennel Flower, Nugmeg Flower and Roman Coriander.

Tasty *and* healthy
Peppery, nutty, rich in antioxidants and bioactive compounds, this black cumin seed oil is right up my street. While the oil is not something that can be used for frying, it’s wonderful drizzled over salads (I mixed some in with lemon juice, garlic, olive oil and seasoning for a sharp aromatic dressing); as a topping for hummus and yogurt dips, or even swirled over soups. Although it isn’t a cheap oil, it seems to be a premium product, cold-pressed and produced in Ukraine. While I don’t take it by the tablespoon neat, I’m very happy to include it in my diet for its taste as well as health benefits.

Nothing to dislike here! great value tasty, luxury Poppy seed oil
This is a new product to me, I make a lot of breads so use poppy seeds very often for their flavour. So I was excited to get this poppy seed oil. In a blind taste test, it smells and tastes delicious, very mellow but with that unmistakable aroma. I tried it in a White loaf bake which was my primary interest, it definitely worked well and gave an enhanced flavour and aroma. At the quantity I am using, its health benefits are not really an issue, but its still nice to know its good for you. Visually it looks like any typical viscous food oil and is smooth enough in taste to use in dressings and other things, it would make an interesting mayo. It comes in an attractive well sealed typical oil bottle. Screw cap and internal pouring spout. Although its only a 250ml bottle, I think the price of £13 is good, I am only using 30ml at a time typically, and I don't know, but I suspect it needs an awful lot of poppy seeds to extract this much oil, its got to be costly. Will very likely restock when its gone.

Clear, luminous, with delicate nutty flavour; silky and light bodied
This clear, luminous poppy seed oil has a soft straw-gold hue and a delicate, nutty character. There is no cloudiness or sharp aroma that might hint at poor filtration or oxidation, just a clean, fresh scent that speaks of good quality. The texture is silky and light-bodied, not thick like castor oil or as heavy as some olive oils. It pours easily, leaving a fine, satiny sheen rather than a greasy layer. On the palate, it feels smooth and refined, with a gentle nuttiness and no trace of bitterness or acidity. The flavour is mild, clean, and pleasantly rounded, finishing with a faintly toasted note that lingers softly. Poppy seed oil is valued for its content of unsaturated fatty acids, particularly omega-6, as well as vitamin E and antioxidants, which support skin health, cardiovascular balance, and overall wellbeing. It is also light and digestible, making it suitable for those sensitive to stronger oils. To keep its delicate flavour and nutrients intact, I tend not to cook with it over high heat. Instead, I drizzle it over salads, steamed vegetables, or white fish, where it can subtly enhance the dish. It can, however, be used in gentle baking or light cooking, where it lends moisture and a hint of nutty flavour without dominating. This is a premium-quality poppy seed oil that brings gentle flavour and nourishment to a dish, rather than a strong presence, and it is a useful addition to the kitchen. Happy to recommend!
