Efficient and good quality
Efficient. The entire pool can be cleaned in about one hour. It keeps working continuously, and the whole pool is cleaned very thoroughly. User friendly: easy to handle and move

This has to be the best pool cleaner and the best customer service you're likely to find
I waited to write a review because I wanted to relate how well this pool robot performs over time. Opening our pool this Spring was a disaster. Unlike other years when the pool was crystal clear to the bottom when we removed the winter cover, this year we couldn't see more than a few inches below the surface. After running hundreds of dollars of chemicals through the filtration system constantly for two weeks (my electricity bills prove it) little had changed. Being able to see the bottom of the pool was a distant memory. In desperation, we bought the Poolmate Hydro 4 Pool Robot Cleaner - primarily because it does not use the pool's filtration system to clean the pool. Dirt and debris are collected in the Robot's filter bin. We chose the hybrid version of the Poolmate 4 with both corded and cordless components because we were in such a bad situation. We began with the corded version of the robot along with the ultra fine filter (additional cost but well worth it for our extremely dirty pool). The corded version meant we didn't have to keep charging the battery buoy (which lasts for about two hours before needing a recharge). Within a few hours we could see the bottom of the pool. A day later and the water was clear. Now we run the cordless robot with the standard filter to collect leaves and other large debris and it does an amazing job. If pollen or sand accumulate, we clean with the ultra fine filter and it's gone. Totally gone. But the best feature of this setup is the Customer Service. They are responsive to a fault. Any issues or questions we have had have been quickly resolved. The folks we have dealt with have all been thoughtful and helpful and generous with their time and expertise. I am so glad we bought this brand. The robot climbs the walls and cleans the waterline as advertised. The pool floor is spotless when it's done. And I can't say enough good things about the company behind it! If I had to buy another, I would buy the Poolmate in a minute!

Climbs walls in floor only mode
This order arrived to my house on Monday, June 23. I unpacked it and installed it into the waterproof electrical box I used for my previous cleaner in pretty short order. Downloaded the app, and configured the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with no issues as other people have previously mentioned; I guess they are just idiots. It took me 10 minutes, tops. This included a firmware upgrade. Everything worked as it’s supposed to. My pool is 20 x 40 with an 8 foot deep end. Two jets, two ladders, two sets of steps in the shallow corners. my biggest issue with the pool is tree debris from neighboring trees. Bark, twigs, leaves. After it sits in the pool, it decomposes and breaks down and turns into fine particulate matter. I played around with the manual setting on the floor for a while. Very cool to be able to go exactly where you want to go and get large piles of debris, dirt, leaves, pool, funk. I then created a custom setting. My parameters were floor only, S-shaped pattern, four hours. This video shows that it loves to hit the walls. In spite of the fact I selected floor only. The walls on my pool stay fairly clean. If this thing would stick to the program, it would probably do a pretty good job. However, if this first run is any indicator, I’m going to be returning this unit to Amazon in very short order. In the five minutes, it took for me to draft this review, it has climbed the walls and additional five times. In fact, I dare say it has spent more time on the walls than on the floor, even though it is supposedly on floor only mode. I will give it a few more days and see if it possibly needs to map my pool in order to perform better. If not, thank goodness it’s on prime, and I will just send it back and try another unit. If the situation improves, I will update my review and my stars. June 24 update: So, I will say it did a superb job of cleaning. I had a very heavy amount of debris since my old cleaner has been dead a month. It does not follow an S-pattern even when using one of the canned floor only formats. It just randomly scoots along, covering a solid 95% of my total floor space. I got the remaining 5% with the manual setting. It did not scrub the walls with this format either. As it approached the vertical surface, it would stop, pivot, and proceed. I think this is where the lack of S-pattern comes in. It does not do a precise 180 degree turn every time, causing it to go off in angles all over the place. My initial review was a 3, I will bump it up to 4, with considerations to a 5. I was skeptical with its initial performance out of the box. I have a large pool and would like the ability to manually program it to do what I want, as advertised. As long as it is durable and maintains this level of cleaning performance, I might forego the advertised features and give it 5 stars. July 17 update. Unit has lost connection and says it is not in the water. Neither is the case. I still have a 6 day window to send it back to Amazon for a full refund, so off it goes. Shame because it has potential. Cleaned well but programming bugs could not be overcome.

The Most Efficient Pool Cleaner I Have Owned!
By far, the most efficient pool cleaner I have owned. This is the fifth one I have tried, and not one even comes close to efficiency. I have a pool with a complex design, but the Chasing Hydro 4 cleans 95% of my pool. Only misses one place at the shallow end. I just reposition it, and the Hydro 4 finishes the job!

No more waiting for charging
I have a wireless vacuum cleaner at home, but now I realize the corded one is better. With this corded cleaner, I don't need to worry about or wait for charging during the non peak hour, and this corded one is super powerful, way better than my wireless cleaner.

Defective after 2 months
Did a fairly decent job cleaning but less than a month in it lost one of its foam wheels and now spins in circles and gets the cord all tangled up. Update: 12/28/2025 after owning this for just over two months. The electrical connection has broken and and will no longer screw together rendering the unit completely inoperable. This is an absolute piece of junk. Do not buy it.
