Excellent product to extend Wi-fi coverage
I wanted to extend my Wi-fi coverage to my front gate, 50+ mts away from the house and my router hub, so I could install a Ring doorbell. I researched this product and decided it provided all the options I required. Repeater mode and direct power supply, not just POE. Once in position the set-up was straight-forward and it is working very well providing a full strength Wi-fi signal all the way to the gate. Highly recommended. The only slight glitch was the plug was a two pin US plug. However, I ordered an adaptor plug and all is working perfectly. I contacted WAVLINK customer service and very quickly they refunded the cost of the adaptor plug and are working on supplying UK customers with a suitable plug as part of the supplied kit.

Wavlink Outdoor AP
My Dad's property has a fairly large garden area and having WiFi outside is really a must these days, especially where 4/5G is lacking, we installed this over the bank holiday weekend in an outbuilding with a Cat 6 run back to the router. While technically not outside, the outbuilding isn't entirely watertight either, this is a perfect fit. The watertight connector ratchets on tight so water shouldn't be allowed to ingress into the connector. This is definitely overkill for the internet speeds they get, but being futureproofed to a certain extent is nice, the range is excellent across an open space and easily covers the entire garden.

Good signal
This access point strikes a great balance between functionality, ease of setup, and overall quality. It offers flexible installation options—whether as a primary WiFi router connected directly to a modem or as an additional access point within an existing network. The key setup consideration is whether it will handle DHCP and if its Ethernet connection will link back to a switch or router. Power over Ethernet (PoE) simplifies installation, allowing you to use the included PoE injector or a PoE-capable switch. This makes placement more convenient since you only need to run a single Ethernet cable, which can be up to 100 meters (around 300 feet). The unit is impressively weatherproof. The antennas have rubber grommets, and the Ethernet port is located on the underside with a watertight adapter. The adapter consists of two hard plastic parts and a split rubber grommet, which needs to be disassembled before threading the Ethernet cable through. It works with most standard cables, except those with oversized boots. A key tip: before mounting the AP in a hard-to-reach spot, complete the digital setup while you still have easy access to the reset button. The included documentation is limited, but the Wavlink website provides more helpful resources. Setup is straightforward via a two-step wizard in a web browser. I did run into a minor issue where Microsoft Edge wouldn’t load the setup page, but Safari and other browsers worked fine. Once configured, the AP delivered WiFi speeds comparable to my Netgear router’s 2.4G and 5G networks. The real advantage, though, is its outdoor capability—it extends WiFi coverage hundreds of feet into the backyard. Overall, this is a solid, well-built access point with strong performance and versatile installation options.

Great for repeating WiFi signal in back garden
I ordered this to install in my garden to extend the WiFi signal so that I can access my network from areas in my garden where it doesn't currently reach. The Wavlink was easy to set up, I attached the antennas, mounted it to the wall, connected the POE adapter and cable. I then followed the quick start guide for configuring the SSID, password etc. This took me no more than a few minutes, however I do work in IT so it might take a more novice user slightly longer. I'm extremely happy with how the WiFi speeds perform from this device, I found it to provide very similar speeds to my primary WiFi network inside. The range of the access point is equally impressive, I tested it up to 300 feet away and found that the WiFi was still usable, the speeds were around 80% slower than when stood next to the access point but this is still brilliant in my opinion. Overall I'm so pleased with this access point, and would highly recommend it for anyone wanting a large area of WiFi coverage.

Nice enough product, decent build quality, but I'll never connect it to my network! Unsafe.
I was really looking forward to using this outdoor wireless access point since we have significant issues with connecting to the wifi network from various parts of our garden. Before I connected it to the network, though, I did a Google search. and if you look for "wavlink backdoor cybernews" you'll find an article detailing the vulnerabilities that were shipping with wavlink product 2 years ago. Wavlink didn't reply to the Cybernews article, but they did post a separate article refuting the claims about their product. Cybernews then posted a rebuttal of wavlink's article and Wavlink went silent on the topic, which isn't at all reassuring! One can only assume that the issue has not yet been fixed at the Wavlink end. The gist of the article was that Wavlink routers ship with "backdoors" allowing "bad actors" (people with malicious intent) to exploit the router, connect it to a botnet, steal personal data, and access your online accounts. I will not, therefore, allow this router anywhere near my home network, and I shall be removing the 2 other Wavlink products from my home. EXTREMELY not recommended!

WiFi for (almost) miles! But not without some security caveats
It's a great piece of gear, if you can live with the possible security vulnerabilities. Setup is relatively straightforward, even for a Luddite like me. You will need to choose how to run a Cat 6 cable to it from your regular router, which will likely amount to drilling holes, ladder training and standing scratching your chin with a pencil behind your ear. Set out an afternoon for swearing at a friend and then celebrating with beer - think of it as a small team building exercise. The unit mounts to a pole or on the wall - where it looks impressively like you've got a robot security spider. I've been really impressed that, from the garage, this is easily running WiFi to the entire property and summer room and beyond - at least 250 metres beyond! It appears to be robustly made, with the only water ingress point really at the base, which is covered with a plastic twist on connector. No issues there so far. So, THE issue here is one of security - do some reading before you purchase - And, to be fair, if you're sensible and change the unit's default passwords and ID login/name, those fears are quite small. However, you should follow Wavlinks advice here and keep your firmware updated etc. The company are aware of the security problems. As I said, if you can live with that, it's a great unit.
