Relaxed African American hair
I’m going to give you the breakdown of how to use this for relaxed African American hair. First of all the reviews that talk about it burning are correct but it’s not a relaxer chemical burn it’s more of a burning sensation. EVERYONE who uses this product should be instructed to baste the scalp with a petroleum based product so that the product does not touch the scalp. Once air hits the product it activates this “burning” sensation even more so the scalp cannot be in contact with the product. Secondly, I used a plastic cap to mitigate drying of the product because it is not supposed to dry on the hair. If you leave it exposed to air for 45 mins then the likelihood of it drying is greater so either cover it with a plastic cap OR make sure you have enough product to constantly apply. You must shampoo the product several times in order to get it all out. If you experience clumping of the hair, just detangle with your fingers when the shampoo is in and use the conditioner liberally after shampooing. You have to use a leave in conditioner and argan oil of some type to continue the conditioning of the hair through styling. In short I only left it on for the minimum amount of time 20-25 mins and there was not significant straightening or relaxing of the curl patter at the root however my hair felt super strong and I have almost no breakage or shedding in the styling process. Overall I like the product and will use it again with these points in mind and leave it in for 45 mins to see what happens.
