Really well made, great gift.
I purchased this as a gift for my daughter who requested one for her birthday. I had never heard of them before but what a great idea. Been around for decades! It keeps butter fresh out of the fridge. I want one for myself now.

Perfection
Oh wow! Love this SOOO much I just had to get another! It works! simple but it works, butter is soft, fresh (you must change the water regularly) and you really get the taste of the butter and it’s spreadable. Perfection!

Old technology - fabulous!
Talking with a friend about organic products, we thought of butter and the drawback of having to keep organic butter (or any butter for that matter) in the fridge and it being hard as nails when you want a smitch for your toast. I asked my mum how things were done in the days before fridges were commonplace and she said butter used to be kept in water so it remained fresh. It didn't take me long to come across the butter bell which is such a simple idea but now, every time I reach for the butter I am so thankful I have this little pot to hand. It's perfect, although a little small for a family perhaps, as it only takes about have a pack of butter at a time but I am sure almost anyone would love this fabulous addition to your kitchen worktop. I'm buying a few as Christmas gifts. I would recommend this to anyone; it's brilliant!

I love these butter crocks
I love these butter crocks, they work perfectly, keeping the butter soft whilst fresh in the cupboard. I bought this one to replace my Le Creuset butter crock that got broken and now is no longer sold in the UK, unless you pay ridiculous shipping fees. My only issue with this one is that the lid does not sit properly, it slides off to one side, not far enough to be a problem, just annoying. I will probably be on the look out for another Le Creuset.

Loving it
Love my butter bell. Looks great in the kitchen and keeps the butter perfectly fresh and just soft enough to spread. Glad I treated myself!

Have your butter and spread it
I bought one of these some years ago when in the states and unfortunately broke it last year. I have been looking for a replacement for some time when I came across this on amazon. It's perfect - it actually fits more butter in the lid than my previous one. Simple idea and, as I much prefer butter to spreadable margarine, I love that it keeps it fresh and easy to spread . Looks good too.

but nevertheless an excellent interpretation of the traditional French cloche de buerre designed ...
I felt this item is overpriced for what it is, but nevertheless an excellent interpretation of the traditional French cloche de buerre designed to keep butter fresh at room temperature. I note that other reviewers found problems with the butter 'falling out' as the bell is inverted, but I have never had any difficulties - just make sure the butter is very soft when you spoon it in and be careful not to trap any air between the butter and the 'bell'. I often harden it in the fridge for an initial set before using it, but I'm sure it's not necessary. The is a good video on youtube demonstrating how to do it.
