Great for children’s learning

I gave this to a 5 year old as a Christmas gift. He was excited, but wished he could get his caterpillars soon. Fast forward to spring. His mom ordered the 5 free caterpillars that you get with this kit, plus bought another 5. The caterpillars shipped within a few hours! All 10 caterpillars arrived alive, but a few looked a little worse for the wear, so we wondered if they’d survive. (The weather had turned pretty cold.) The boys were so excited to see that by the next morning, all 10 were actively moving around and eating. The 5 year old wanted to pet them! (Mom said no). They checked them each morning before school, and ran to check them as soon as they got home. They were excited when they saw them making their chrysalises, and as soon as they were all dry, my daughter transferred them to the enclosure. The boys checked them multiple times a day to see if any had hatched. Unfortunately, butterflies apparently prefer to hatch in the mornings, so with the boys in school, they didn’t get to see any actually emerge from their chrysalises, but they were excited to discover them drying their wings in the enclosure when they got home. All 10 caterpillars made a chrysalis, and all 10 butterflies emerged within a couple of days of one another. They waited to release them until the last hatchling was ready. (My daughter put a piece of orange in the enclosure for the first hatchlings to feed on while waiting for the last ones to hatch). The boys were so excited to watch this process! We learned a lot about butterflies by googling them. We will definitely order again next year. Maybe we’ll order a different variety of caterpillar next time. Awesome experience for the boys (5,7, & 13), my daughter, and me!

This time I have order one, cheaper, smaller every time I buy one. But they still hatch butterflies.

We bought one but it didn't come with the voucher so Amazon sent us another right away. The kids got them for Easter. Yup,little bugs in thier baskets! It has been a very fun and educational process to be part of. All 10 of 10 caterpillars turned into beautiful butterflies! The kids loved them alot, even named them all! Only issue was with our cat trying to get to them. Great gift for any butterfly lover!

Update: We got the caterpillars and grew our butterflies. He was so engaged in the entire process. This will be an annual thing for many years to come. Highly recommend. All 5 caterpillars became butterflies. I bought this for my 5 year old great-nephew for Christmas. We live in the northern US so I love the option of buying a kit with a voucher for the caterpillars so we can time when we get them. I just ordered the cup of caterpillars last week and the process of redeeming the voucher was simple. He is a nature lover so I am looking forward to listening to him telling me all about the life stages and I hope to be with him when he releases the butterflies.

My daughter absolutely loved this kit! We order our caterpillars, received them a week later and started the process. My 3 year was so into it! Its hassle free for the parent, just let the caterpillars do their thing, once they’ve created cocoons, you move them to the sanctuary, and watch them become butterflies. We gave them a few pieces of watermelon every day and after a few days of admiring them we set them free. They stopped to give a little love to my daughter before taking off. It was a very sweet and special moment. I threw the sanctuary in the washing machine on a rinse cycle & we’re ready for another round! Highly recommend.

Ein ganz besonderes Erlebnis in der Corona-Zeit im Frühjahr! Wir haben den Raupen beim größer werden zugeschaut, beim Verpuppen und exakt am Ostermontag sind sie geschlüpft - das schönste Osterwunder! Werden wir ab jetzt öfter machen. Ein wunderschönes Erlebnis für die Kinder und die Erwachsenen. Handhabung war einfach, alles gut beschrieben, man hat viel gelernt, von zehn Raupen haben sich neun zu wunderschönen Schmetterlingen entwickelt, die wir mit viel Freude haben fliegen lassen. Tipp dazu : beim Freilassen küchenpapier in Saft tunken und sie damit locken - es ist so schön, die schmetterlinge auf der Hand zu halten!

It’s a big ol inconvenience. First, price is crazy for what u get. Second, it doesn’t come with catapillars. Third, when I wanted to return, it would cost me half of what it’s worth bc I have to pay the fees to cross the border. Do not waste ur money!
