Everything I was looking for and more!
Have you ever thought to yourself, “I wish I had background music playing at all times”? I have! I love music—it really helps my productivity and mood which is super important for my neurodivergent brain. But for me, and I know for many others, finding the perfect way to do that can be challenging. That’s why I’m so excited to review the nwm One Open Ear Headphones. First off, this isn’t a sponsored review—I paid for these headphones with my own money, and I want to give you my honest opinion. Spoiler alert: I love them! For those who don’t know, I’m hard of hearing and wear hearing aids in both ears. While I’m grateful to have hearing aids, they aren’t perfect. Bluetooth hearing aids, for example, allow me to listen to music and make phone calls, but the connection isn’t always reliable. I have to hold my phone near my mouth for calls, and if I put my phone in my pocket, the music cuts in and out—super annoying. Plus, when you use the Bluetooth function, it mutes the mics on the hearing aids, so I can’t hear what’s happening around me. It takes a moment to switch back to hearing mode, which can be frustrating, especially if someone starts talking unexpectedly. Not to mention, it drains the battery quickly. As for comfort, I’ve been using over-ear headphones (Beats Studio 3), which are noise-canceling. While that can be nice, it also means I can’t hear anything around me, which isn’t ideal when you’re hard of hearing. The over-ear design squishes my hearing aids, which can cause feedback (not fun) or just general ear pain—especially since I also wear glasses. That’s why I’m so impressed with the nwm Ones. They’re so light, you’ll forget you’re even wearing them! If you wear glasses and hearing aids like I do, you’ll appreciate these even more. The circular ear pads fit comfortably around my behind-the-ear hearing aids, and I didn’t have any trouble wearing them over the ear tubes (even with hearing aid charms on). Over-ear headphones can also trap moisture in your ears, which isn’t great for hearing aids or for preventing ear infections (which I’m prone to). The open-ear design of the nwm Ones allows for airflow which is better for the hearing aid microphones because they need to stay dry. The airflow means less worry about trapped moisture, and that’s really such a game-changer for me. I’ve tried bone-conducting headphones before, but they didn’t fit well with my hearing aids. They pushed the behind-the-ear part off and got caught in the tubing, which was both annoying and painful. I also found the sound quality lacking severely. Another reason I wanted these headphones is for situational awareness. I work in an office and like to listen to music, podcasts, and audiobooks while I work. However, I need to be aware of people approaching my desk or walking into the office. I also take meetings and phone calls on my laptop. The nwm ones make all of this possible. You can even connect them to multiple devices, so I can have both my phone and laptop connected at the same time! I called three different people to test the call sound quality, and they all said they could hear me perfectly—no one even realized I was using headphones. My Nana used to complain she couldn’t hear me when I used my old headphones to call her so nwm ones passed the Nana hearing test too! While on the phone, I did have to turn up the volume a bit to hear the other person, but I haven’t played around with the nwm app yet which has different sound settings so that might make a difference. Even so, once I turned the volume up I had no issues hearing the other person (around 60% volume). This was still a huge improvement compared to my Beats and airPods, which needed to be at around 90% + volume for me to use without hearing aids, which isn’t good for ear health. Working in a bigger city, I also appreciate the safety aspect of these headphones. No longer will I have to choose between listening to my music and being aware of my surroundings on the bus or walking around at lunchtime. I live about 15 minutes outside of the city I work in, and love to walk my dogs. Living on a busy residential street in an area where we have speeding cars, loose dogs, deer, and even bears (yes really) so I am grateful to be able to hear my surroundings! Sometimes, muting the world around you isn’t a good thing, and these headphones live up to their promise of “unmuting the world.” Sound leakage is minimal—even at max volume, my husband could barely hear me blasting “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born,” and the bass quality was great for an open-ear design! With a 20-hour battery life (and 1.5 hours to fully charge), plus the ability to get an hour of use from just 5 minutes of charging, these headphones are perfect for all-day use. They even come with a cable to use as wired headphones if needed. For more tech details, check out the nwm website. I just have to say—I haven’t been this excited about a piece of tech since the Nintendo Switch. Japanese designers have truly outdone themselves with this innovative product. While I know people who wear hearing devices weren’t the target market, Bob Ross would say “this is a happy accident”! It would be a lie to say that these didn’t bring me to tears when I first tried them. These headphones are exactly what I needed and wanted. As someone who has unique needs and challenges, I can’t recommend them enough, and I hope you give them a try too!

not what I expected ,very well executed design & surprise sound
I own lots of decent headphones & equipment . sennheiser HD800,HIFIman SE1000 , many .... 1st i have to point out what 's not for : as with any open HP , u are affect by ambient surrounding . 2nd not for outdoor wet sport activities . 3rd not for bass edm 4th I don't care anything but only quality of the sound in a quiet environment It connected to my AK 3000T DAP only at AAC ? but the sound Pro : tonally correct ,balance , mid forward sound for vocal ,nice ,realist from acoustic to vocal Highs ,just a tag open "S" but giving a live sound like focal speakers (KANTA ) wonderful mid tone Bass ,there is bass ,in just the right amount & fast dynamic (a pinch little less than my HIFIMAN 1000. Sound stage , like my Senn.HD800 Resolution , u can hear ,as the singer lips movement .Not the best but impressive for a Bluetooth . u can hear layering of sound field (smaller than my home speaker power by B300T SET amp ). over all sound forward ,analog-like ,long listen is comfortable for such a light weight phone .As with any good speaker , it needs to be posting right to get the sweet spot ,same for this HP , which has a rotatable head to adjust for best neutral sound & listen in a quiet surrounding for best .The choice of driver is very good (impressive quality),if they use a larger bass driver ,it may cause imbalance of sound & speed . U can hear into the recording, harmonic ,though miss the visceral impact of the Full range floor speaker. Also it does not create any sound pressure as most conventional HP does in high passage . Wish it has a collapsible headband for better carry/storage . wish it uses more premium metal (Ti /AL)

Amazing for podcasts and multitaskers
I thought about these for a long time and I'm so glad I didn't let a few reviews stop me. They're perfect for my purposes, which is just podcasts and Netflix around the house while I do chores and music while working out. There are controls on the side for volume and pause/restart. I found out that pressing the "on" button 3 times rewinds 30 seconds and hitting it twice skips forward 30 seconds, which is nowhere in the instruction manual. I would have bought these for that control alone as a podcast listener who has to rewind frequently and fast forward through commercials. Unfortunately it only works with my Audible app. You can only pause/restart with Netflix. These are super comfy and not too tight on my big head. The speakers and rings don't touch my ears at all. When I'm sweating during a workout I still get all the airflow I need. The cushions are silicone so they're very easy to quickly clean off with a cloth. They don't hurt my ears after a while or trap moisture like ear buds do. I've only done weight lifting in them, haven't ran in them yet, so I'm not sure how they'd handle that but they're pretty light and stable. They sound fine to me but I really don't care about that part much. The battery life was a big selling point. A charge lasts 2-3 days and I use them for hours and hours each day. My old wireless buds wouldn't even last a day and I hated having to stop watching/listening to recharge them constantly. The build quality seems great to me. I don't know what the other reviewer was talking about with the wires being fragile. The speakers can only turn a few clicks to point in your ears before hitting a hard stop. They're not freely swinging, so I haven't seen any strain on the wires whatsoever. Love these and would definitely buy again!

I used the NVM one headphones for about two weeks before encountering an issue: the left speaker stopped delivering bass frequencies properly. Instead of bass, it produced an unpleasant rattling noise. This led me to return them, and I can say the refund process on Amazon UK was straightforward. I got a return label, shipped them back, and after about two or three weeks, I received confirmation that my refund was approved. Now, as for the unique features: these headphones have a low-latency wireless system that genuinely works well. I tested them while walking around the city, where Bluetooth interference can often cause dropouts, but these maintained a stable connection even at distances of around 30 or 40 meters. That’s impressive and definitely a standout feature. In terms of comfort, the NVM1 is extremely comfortable for long periods. I have sensitive ears, and I barely felt any discomfort. They’re light and don’t clamp down too hard. This makes them perfect not just for casual listening, but also for things like silent discos, where you might wear them for a long time. Another unique aspect is that they allow you to hear your surroundings while still enjoying your music. This is fantastic for a silent disco scenario where you want to talk to someone without removing the headphones. You can still have a conversation because the volume, while loud enough, never isolates you completely. Some people might see this as a downside if they want total immersion, but I found it a plus for shared experiences. On the downside, the bass is just average. It’s there, but if you’re a bass lover, you’ll notice it’s not the most powerful. Also, the maximum volume isn’t extremely high. It’s enough for most situations, but if you want ear-shattering loudness, these won’t provide it. They’re more about balance and comfort. Lastly, the headphones are not very compact. They don’t fold down, so they take up a bit of space when you carry them around. That’s something to consider if you need portability. And I haven’t fully tested the microphone yet, but I plan to. There’s a feature they call “clear sound” for calls, which I’ll explore soon. In summary, these headphones are fantastic for comfort, shared listening experiences, and stable connectivity. They have some limitations in bass and maximum volume, and they’re not the most portable design. But overall, they do a great job at what they’re intended for ********************************************************* I previously left a four-star review for these NWM One headphones because I liked them functionally, even though they weren't perfect. However, this is now my second pair, and the same defect happened again: the left driver stopped working after just over a month. Since the return window is only 30 days, I can't return them. In other words, these headphones clearly have a serious quality issue. They seem to fail in the exact same way, likely due to the magnetic coil or driver design. For such an expensive product, this is unacceptable. If I could lower my rating from three stars to one star, I would.
