I bought this for my son to work through. I liked the format, with plenty of practice activities to complete (it comes with an answer key) and the essential vocabulary/expression/topics he will need when he visits in the following years. Plus, the free downloads are beneficial for understanding Japanese verbiage. Speaking was the main focus of buying this book. Unit 6 was critical as I wanted my son to know how to ask questions to initiate conversations and build his confidence. Most chapters come with the essential vocabulary at the end for that particular focus area. The author provides the Kanji/Katakana, Hiragana, Reading, and English for each word so you can see how to write and say it correctly. The writing was less of a focus for my son and me, but you are also well-supported. Overall, the workbook is a solid place to start your Japanese language journey, and you’ll be well-equipped when you arrive in Japan for work or vacation.
