I really like this straightening because it doesn't have so many chemicals, it's not abrasive, it leaves my hair super smooth, it doesn't have a strong smell, it's super good, I really love it, I've been using it for about 6 months and I have no complaints, for the price it's excellent, I really recommend this product, really yes, my hair is super strong and with the regular I manage to tame it, I love it too much

It was my first time using this brand. I did my own application therefore the result wasn't uniform but in all, I was satisfied. I have 4c hair. I only retouch 3 x per year. This year I'm retouching every 6 months to reduce overlapping and over-processing. I left it on only 25 minutes (application time & smoothing).

Great product and fair priced. The instructions are very easy to follow. I liked that the kit comes with hair restoration items for aftercare. This product is ideal for at home usage. I will continue to repurchase and use this product.

I haven't used a perm in years and wanted a texurizer. I decided to use this instead. I didn't want my hair straight so I only left it on for exactly 15 mins. My hair turned out exactly the way I wanted it! No burning or weird smell, just softer slightly kinky hair. (Like a blowout)

Hair hasnt stopped sheddg after use. It has now been 2mths. Strightens hair very well. However. May want to try other relaxers with more moisturizers.

A little back story mixed in with my review; I bought the giant bucket of affirm and tried 3 or four different ways to apply the relaxer (with and without base applied, without and without strand protection product, etc) and my hair kept reverting to my fro with moisture in the air or sweat from my scalp. I gave up and bought this box relaxer thinking I needed a stronger formula (even though I grew up receiving relaxers and always knew my hair to respond well to “gentle formulas”) after some google searching. I left the affirm on my hair up to 30 min and it still reverted. This Dark and Lovely was on for all of 5 min in the most resistant section of my hair and when I went back to smooth, I noticed that the effort to work it in was already enough to get it smooth and it stayed. So I moved on to other sections, and the application took me all of a little over 15 min (grown out pixie cut length, just under the shortest bob length hair) I just took one extra minute to smooth all over in a pretty lazy way then went to rinse. Not even a tingle yet and I was nervous because I had been scratching my scalp freely (lol) and I did not apply a base/scalp protectant. I rinsed for a good amount of time, only applied each product step afterwards once, I wish I had either shampooed or done the conditioner step twice because despite my long rinsing, heavy application of the neutralizing conditioner, I still had a section that I smelled the slightest bit of the relaxer odor when I went to blow dry. Nothing fell out, still no burning, I flat ironed and it came out great, but I do feel if the odor was there, I could have done a better neutralizing and shampooing job. So double up on that yall. (I know for next time) my hair stayed smoothed out, no puffing back up, and also this was done about two weeks post color lift treatment, I did not have bleach applied to my roots, I left dark roots while lifting to a light blonde. Of course some relaxer overlapped the color treated area, again, everything is just fine. I did a cosmetic code search and found that my batch of D&L was made in June of this year, i bought it mid September and used October 1. I did the same search on my affirm (Avlon) relaxer and the results said their code could either be Jan this year or sometime in 2022. With results I kept getting, I believe it may have been the latter. Be careful where you buy your products, (I got it off Amazon) but we all know relaxers were sitting idle on shelves during the natural hair movement) verify the batch production date with a quick search to ensure you get something will be effective and not old stock. Overall this was very easy to apply, I used the regular formula, not the super because Google told me the regular was stronger than most gentle formula relaxers out there, I only recommend double neutralizing steps, but not because of any burning or tingling just to get it all off the strands, the post relaxer steps also smell very good, I don’t recommend the last little leave in conditioner because it was a little heavy. I would say use a good leave in spray-heat protectant (Avlon has great options for these) and this is a novice friendly box set. Thanks for reading!

I’ve been using Soft Sheen Perm for a while now, and honestly, it does what it promises. It keeps my hair smooth and manageable, and the curls/waves come out nice without feeling crunchy or dry. The smell isn’t too harsh compared to other perms I’ve tried, which is a huge plus. It’s super easy to work with, and my hair actually feels healthier after styling. Definitely a solid choice if you want a long-lasting perm without the stress.

The best perm for 4D hair! No extreme damage and my perm last so long for such a cheap purchase. This is my subscription list and will never cancel.
