Wish I had bought her poetry years ago
I have known about Mary Oliver for a couple of decades but, despite buying heaps of poetry books, hadn't got round to her work until earlier this week. What a delight. She has that really rare skill of almost always just being on the right side of profound but not pretentious, spiritual but not mawkish, nature-loving but not blandly so. The result is a truly uplifting experience when reading and re-reading her poems. Their brevity and simplicity of language are fantastic and effective.I look forward to reading much more of her, and if her other volumes - prose as well as poetry - are anything like as good as this book, I'll buy everything she has published.

Deep-hearted
Mary Oliver is always worth reading. Her poems are finely in wrought and sensitively woven. A Thousand Mornings is not my favourite of her poetry collections. I go to Mary Oliver to become more present to the other-than-human world & this collection has much to say about the human experience. But, as ever, there are many beautiful, transcendent moments to be found here.

Wonderful poetry
Mary Oliver's poetry is easy to read but profound and grounded in nature and everyday life. Highly recommend

Worth Waking Early for, but only just
I guess we've been spoilt by her earlier fantastic work, but these poems mainly repeat old themes without the light or depth of before.
