Used them to mount a heavy shelf. Our house is old and the plaster is basically dust at this point so we needed something heavy duty. These longer plugs get right into the brick and secured the shelf perfectly. Really easy to use. Great idea with the metal inserts ensures the screw doesn’t deviate. Screws seem to be tough and great quality. Highly recommended

These are simply well worth the price! After our house underwent a full restoration, and not particularly clued up with what the builder was describing, and finding out what 'dot and dab' plasterboard actually means in real life: these screws are a god send to help overcome problematic issues caused by said new walls! The idea and design behind these screws is a simply one! These screws are long (and strong) enough that they pass through the gap caused by the likes of dot and dab walls, as they end up inside the solid brick part of the wall that then helps create a solid connecting, as it did in our case. Very simple, as once hole has been drilled, then wall plug is inserted, followed by the the screw: and you are left with such a solid finish, that it would probably take the average adults body weight, simply excellent! We only needed to use 3 when mounting a new shelf for a 38 inch TV, again, the shelve was solid, 3 screws possibly a tad overkill? Although, better safe than sorry. Now, going forward, these simply are the only way, as they simplify what became such an irritating job, as having to fill gaps left by the failed wall plugs & screws, just wish we knew about these particular screws before the job was started. Yes, simply a fantastic and sensible product that negates many a issue caused by the likes of dot and dab walls. Recommend very highly.

These do provide a sturdy fixing but you have to be careful. DO NOT hammer drill with a 10mm masonry bit! To start and for the initial hole, get through the plaster with an 8mm masonry bit WITHOUT hammer action to get a clean hole in the plaster. Then hammer-drill with the 8mm bit into the masonry behind. The coarseness of the block behind the plaster and the vibration will result in a wider than 8mm hole. Because you need a fairly tight fit with the red plug, very lightly/roughly finish off the hole with a 10mm bit - try without hammer action on for that first. Just don't drill it too much as the red plug needs to be tight in order for the screw not to slip. Hammer home the plug and metal sleeve at the same time. Hand tighten the screw - some may slip so be careful - that's a sign that your drill hole is a bit big.
