Overall, I'm pleased with this Hoover carpet cleaner. We have several large area rugs in our newly built home that haven't been cleaned (only vacuumed) since we moved in 18 months ago. We were thinking about getting a professional rug cleaner to do the job, but saw that this carpet cleaner would cost less than a one time cleaning by a professional. The reviews were good so we decided to give it a try. Unpacking and assembly was very easy. No tools required. The quick use guide was good if you're the kind of person that doesn't want to take the time to read the entire manual. The manual itself goes into just the right amount of detail to tell you everything you need to know. The machine is very easy to use. Just put warm water into the tank up to the first fill line. Then add the cleaning formula up to the second fill line. The two fill lines take the guess work out of how much formula to use (as long as you're using the correct formula for the machine). Dumping the waste water is easy... just squeeze the handle on top, lift out, dump and reinsert. The machine is very light and easy to handle. It's a very easy machine to use. As far as cleaning, the machine does a pretty good job cleaning my rugs. The waste water was a very dark brown, so it definitely sucked a lot of dirt out. Visually, it was apparent that our rugs looked much cleaner after cleaning them with this machine. So, I am pleased with the result. Especially considering that this machine only cost us $99.00. There were a few spots on our rugs the machine did not get up. So I used my Bissell spot cleaning machine to get those out. Some dirty spots just require a little more muscle and time. One cleaning note - the warm water, formula and scrubbing this machine does will definitely loosen the dirt. But if you rush going back over the carpet to suck out the dirty water, the results won't be as good. I found that a couple of extra passes over the carpet with just the suction on to suck out all the dirty water possible will bring better results. Does this machine clean as well as a professional cleaning? Probably not, especially on deep rugs and carpet. But I don't believe there is much difference between the effectiveness of the two options. If you're willing to purchase this thing and do the work yourself as opposed to using a professional, you'll save a lot of money. The question now is, "how long will this machine last"? Some of the reviews indicate it could die within a year or two. I guess it depends partly on how often you use it. But if I get two years out it, it will be worth the purchase. What would I change about this little rug cleaner? First of all, I wish the electrical cord was longer, but it's not a big deal. Second, I wish the two tanks held more water. You have to empty the waste tank and refill the clean water tank often. To clean 5 large rugs and 4 smaller rugs in my home, I refilled the clean water tank a dozen times. I dumped the waster water tank 7 times. It's a bit aggravating to have to refill and dump so many items. But I guess it's a trade off to make the machine lighter and easier to handle. I only found one problem with the machine. The machine is designed to stop vacuuming whenever the waste tank is full. There is a "full tank line" on the waste container. The problem is that the machine stops vacuuming before the "full tank line" is reached. It took me a little time to figure out what the heck was going on when it stopped vacuuming. Once you know it will stop vacuuming a little short of the line, it's not a big deal. But I want to mention it in case those reading this review experienced the same problem. So, I do recommend this machine. It's does a nice job cleaning carpet and rugs. It will save you money if you're willing to do the work yourself.

This is a solid machine for cleaning up after pets, spills etc. I spilled hot chocolate on the carpet and pulled out the carpet cleaner and got rid of the stain before it even had a chance to settle. Good value, works well, light weight. I have had other carpet cleaners in the past that were heavy and hard to maneuver so we never wanted to use it, this makes cleaning up a breeze. 4 stars only because there is one part that can be tricky to clean if you get carpet threads in it. Bottom line: this is a solid, affordable carpet cleaner that's pleasant to use. You shouldn't expect commercial-grade results, but it's great for everyday household messes. I bought this mostly to clean my toddler's room. We have some ground-in Play Doh, washable paint stick stains, and a few hastily cleaned potty accident spots. The carpet in there also hadn't been cleaned in a few years and just generally had some grime that the vacuum wasn't getting. We also had a hastily-cleaned dog puke spot on the low pile rug that I wanted to clean. This was easy to set up. I opened the box and had it going within a few minutes without really reading the instructions. It took a few passes to get the paint stick stains out, but they did all come out (probably would have been easier if I'd pre-treated them). Some of the Play Doh came out, but I have a few bigger chunks it missed; that's ok though, I didn't expect anything was going to get those out short of scissors. It pulled out tons of dirt too, and a surprising amount of fuzz - I'm actually a little bit horrified at what this removed that the Dyson was apparently leaving behind. I cleaned the room at about 4, and it was 90% dry by bedtime a few hours later, so it did a good job pulling the solution back out of the carpet. (I use unscented laundry detergent because I can't stand the strong smell of the cleaners these things come with, so take the review with a grain of salt for that). This is really lightweight and easy to maneuver - so much so, in fact, that my 2.5 year old claimed it as "her vacuum" and has been pushing it all over the house relatively easily, despite the fact that it's taller than she is. It was relatively easy to clean, too. The only part I struggled with was cleaning the brush roll, and I think that was only hard because I didn't find the plastic brush roll cleaning tool in the box until after I had already cleaned it. My only two gripes about it are that: (1) the cord storage is kind of wimpy. The top cord storage holder has a nice big rotating lever like you're probably used to seeing on these things. The corresponding bottom cord storage wrap holder is a short and stubby flap, and it's not quite long enough to hold the fully wrapped cord securely. (2) the dirty water reservoir doesn't seem to come apart for easy cleaning. It's got a hole in the side where you can add water and shake it up and empty it, but I don't see a way to really get your hand in there and scrub it. Maybe I need to read the instructions though.

Much easier to clean than the older version, which I loved. Spend the $50 or so extra bucks to get this one. Works great for area rugs!

This was a very recent purchase for me so I just use this carpet cleaner for the first time . It did an outstanding job. I was stunned at how much dirt it pulled up out of my carpet. The size makes it very easy to use and maneuver. When I was finished, I took the entire cleaner apart to clean it. That was not a difficult task. Took me about 20 minutes to thoroughly clean it so that it looks like it has never been used. As far as the design goes, it's just about perfect. My only minor issue with the unit was when cleaning it, there was a bit more to taking off the front to clean the roller and underneath the roller than I would like. I think it would be very helpful if the lower cover would snap on and off, or possibly be attached w only one screw, giving easier access to these areas as well as the cover. The cover needs to be removed and rinsed. All in all, this carpet cleaner, in my opinion, gets 5 stars. Great unit for the price.

I’ve been using the Hoover PowerDash Compact Carpet Cleaner for the past 3 months, and it’s been great for keeping my carpets fresh and clean. It’s lightweight and easy to handle, which makes cleaning quick and less tiring. The machine does a good job removing stains and dirt,though it uses too much carpet cleaning solution. I also like that it dries fairly fast, so I don’t have to wait long before walking on the carpet again. Overall, it’s a reliable, convenient and cheap carpet cleaner that works well for everyday use.

Prix abordable pour la qualité de l'article Facile à assembler Excellent résultat Seul petit hic mais tout à fait normal pour le prix est la quantité d'eau un peu petite du réservoir. Pour de grandes surfaces il va falloir remplir le bac d'eau à quelques reprises, mais ce n'est rien de compliqué. Je recommande grandement ce nettoyeur de tapis.

It came, minus the tools. And downloaded invoice contained only, trivial items like carpet shampoo, bleach etc... Involve wouldn't display/include this, the main item. And, as you cannot keep it and get sent the tools separately. I felt forced to return this item.
