It's handy to be able to take food to lunch and heat at my desk. I cook a lot at home and usually bring leftovers in. This thing works well, and it's large enough to carry 2 full lunches, easily. I'm not exactly sure why there is a plastic case inside. I didn't read the details. It gets HOT. Enough to cook your food more. Takes 30 minutes or so for the average amount I bring in. I would be happy if there was a lid for the insert, so I could just carry that part back and forth. Having extra inserts would be nice too. I don't always get it washed right away, so it would be nice to have 2-3 in case dishes aren't cleaned. But, for the money, it's a steal.

I love this thing. I plug it in about an hour or half hour before my lunch and then I have a very hot lunch. I got one for my daughter because between school and work it is hard to find time to eat. She can just plug this in her car and eat a warm meal on the go
