5 beautiful stars for this masterpiece
-he falls first-ptsd/mental health rep-broken golden boy mmc-black cat fmc-found family-college hockey5 beautiful stars for this masterpiece! i’m in awe that this is a debut novel — peyton’s story is the perfect combination of angst, swoon, pain, & love. her writing instantly captures you & feels like it’s wrapping you in the biggest, coziest hug.rhys is the definition of a walking green flag (literally though this man can do no wrong) after an intense injury the previous season, rhys is trying to feel at home again on the ice but is struggling with ptsd & panic attacks. he’s very quiet about what he’s going through which leads to him trying to resolve everything on his own. i loved rhys’ character development in this one. seeing him open up first to sadie and then to his family & friends was a huge step. the scene with him & his dad actually had me bawling. rhys has the biggest heart, he loves unconditionally, and is such a teddy bear. my favorite thing about him was how easy it was for him to give his love not just to sadie but to her brothers as well. rhys is the kind of person who will be there for you no matter what, even if you push him away he never backs down. i thought peyton’srepresentation of ptsd/mental health was beautifully writtenmy sadie baby. she is EVERYTHING. caring for her brothers while trying to maintain her figure skating scholarship, grades, and two jobs was not easy. but she did it all by herself. her love for her brothers is so unconditional. i love how real these characters feel and how we got to see sadie both mentally & physically exhausted. what she was doing isn’t easy and it definitely took its toll on her but seeing her in those stages of feeling defeated or like nothing could go right made her feel so real and like someone you could connect with. sadie is super protective and she’s not afraid to put up a fight if you wrong the ones she loves. we get to see sadie in all her glory — happy, sad, doubtful, defeated, anxious, loving, confident, feisty, and so much more. it’s what makes her real. my favorite thing about sadie was getting to see her fall in love and accept the love she deserves from those around herrhys & sadie together is a twin flame burning the brightest shade. after sadie helps rhys through a panic attack (and introduces him to the best taste music) they instantly have a connection. rhys sees her and feels safety & comfort. sadie instantly tries to keep her space since she has so much on her plate and thinks she doesn’t deserve someone like him. but what they share is undeniable and soon they start hanging out more as friends until the tension and chemistry shared between them explodes. they both help each other in so many different ways. they balance and lean on one another. the are golden and perfect and indescribably in love. sadie helps rhys feel like it’s okay not to be perfect all the time & rhys helps show sadie she deserves to be loved and that it’s okay to accept help. seeing them fall in love was so beautiful & i’m sad i’ll never be able to experience that for the first time again. they are GOLDEN*also shoutout to rhys’ parents for being the absolute best*this book is a masterpiece! it gives boys of tommen found family vibes along with the perfect combination of sports romance & angst. everyone needs to stop what they’re doing and read this book right now! i don’t even know who book 2 is about but all i know is that i can’t wait to go back to this world and these characters because i’m seriously so in love with them.peyton, i’m in awe of you & so so proud. this is easily in my top 10 books of the year. i can’t wait to see what’s coming next and i feel so lucky that i get to experience your writing journey🧡songs: peace, daylight, & you are in love

Spitfire Girlfriend, Golden Retrieve Boyfrienf
If you’re looking for a mature YA Romance book that will reach out to your Wattpad lover girl hearts this book is for you.Rhys, a golden retriever hockey player- who’s totally boyfriend material- is recovering from an injury, and while he psychically may be okay. Mentally, he is not. In a short spitfire figure skater he finally finds peace, and what starts off as an “I use you, you use me” situation, sprouts into love.Sadie, a short figure skater with a mouth that could challenge anybody. You haven’t heard a real comeback until you’ve witnessed Sadie’s wrath. She’s guarded, protected, and insensitive. But she’s also loving, amazing, and a big red rose underneath all those thorns. She had to grow up too early, and take responsibility at too young of an age. All it took was a boy who she nicknamed “Hot-Shot” to melt those walls.I really liked how this book focused on the mental recovery that comes with sports injuries and not just the psychical recovery. Getting over that paranoid of returning to your sport in fear that it might happen again. And the author also addresses over working yourself, and not knowing your limit when it comes to practicing. The book is now where near perfect, it didn’t get 5 stars because it was beautifully and lyrically written- no- but it got 4 stars because it got me out of a reading slump and I fell in love with a spitfire named Sadie who didn’t know how to love, but was willing to learn.

AMAZING Debut Hockey Romance!
T R O P E S🏒 College Hockey/Figure Skating Romance🏒 Cinnamon Roll MMC/Black Cat FMC🏒 He Falls First🏒 Friends to Friends With Benefits to Lovers🏒 Found Family🏒 Mental Health RepR E V I E WI’m sorry. Excuse me. WHAT? How is this Peyton’s debut novel?! This book had NO BUSINESS being this good. IMMEDIATELY it is in the top 5 books I’ve read this year, and I’ve read nearly 125 books. I was blown away by how good this was and cannot recommend it enough. This book follows Sadie, a figure skater who has a hard home life but is determined to succeed this year, and Rhys, the captain of the hockey team who took a hard hit in last year’s Frozen Four and is now struggling with getting back on the ice. These two are some of the BEST MCs I’ve read in a while! Sadie has so much going on, between her skating career, working 3 jobs, trying to get custody of her two younger brothers from their alcoholic dad, and school in general, this girl is stretched thin, but she is a power house - small but mighty. I loved her spitfire character! She is so guarded, but understandably so. I loved seeing her icy exterior melt for Rhys. And RHYS. I think he might be my favorite Rhys to date 👀 . He is the perfect Cinnamon Roll, but he’s also going through PTSD from a terrible hit and struggling. He becomes so obsessed with her and honestly, I’m a little jealous. (Let’s not forget about the mouth on this man though 🥵 .) I LOVED them as a pair and the angst and tension between them was spectacular! I love how they pushed each other and how well they matched. The spice between them was perfection as well! This was such a good blend of character development, plot, and spice.I also have to discuss the amazing side characters. First of all, Sadie’s brothers are the stars of this show. Liam was the cutest thing on this planet and I just wanted to give Oliver a hug (but won’t because he doesn’t want to be touched). The way Rhys interacts with them and the whole storyline with them made me bawl. It was soooo good. Then we have Rhys’ family! His parents are magnificent and I need to know more about their story! And lastly, we cannot forget Rhys’ team. I cannot wait for more books about each and every one of them. They were all introduced so well and I KNOW there are going to be some fantastic stories told about them. I’m going to need this to be a series with all of the hockey teammates (Toren and Bennett both have me eyeing them up and I needed their books YESTERDAY). I’m also going to need a prequel novel about Rhys’ parents AND a next gen spinoff with Sadie’s younger brothers. This book is going to be a trophy I buy for my shelf so I can reread it and I will definitely be reading anything and everything Peyton writes in the future! The mental health rep in this book was chefs kiss. We saw them both struggling with their thoughts and emotions, saw them using each other for comfort, and saw them both getting true help. I loved that Rhys recognized he was using her as a crutch and sought therapy. We need more mental health rep that is done like this!Honestly, I cannot recommend this book enough. It had me laughing, blushing, and full on crying so many times. There was so much emotion, care, and love packed into this book. BRAVO Peyton on writing such a magnificent debut novel!

Amazing!
I wasn't expecting such a profound book, it surprised me in the most incredible way. The characters are so relatable, the dynamic with Sadie's brothers is so sweet and the fact that there was no third act break, instead Rhys remained by her side despite everything, really showing that he loved and understood her, made this book one of my favorites! I hope Peyton keeps writing, cause I'm already a fan.

A beautiful story that is full of angst and love!!
This book is absolute GOLD. The MCs - Rhys and Sadie - are characters that are incredibly well written. Their story is filled with sooo much love, passion, desire, healing and vulnerability. It's a story of a hockey captain and a figure skater who found each other by chance but stuck with through everything each other by choice. I loved how "love" was portrayed in this book not just between Rhys and Sadie (which was AMAZING btw) but also in every relationship that played in a role in their lives - friendship, parents, siblings, teammates.Unsteady is story full of angst, portrays mental health rep, compassion, and true love that is relatable to all our everyday lives. The story deals with strong emotions that will make you really FEEL for the characters.I cannot believe this was the author's debut book. It's so incredibly well written. I found a new autobuy author! ♥️ I'm also going to think about this book, these characters, and Liam and especially Oliver for a long long time! ✨

Romantic and interesting
Peyton Corinne’s Unsteady follows Rhys Koteskiy, captain of the Waterfell University hockey team who suffered a nasty hit in a game and is still recovering months later, and Sadie Brown, a figure skater fighting for custody of her two younger brothers. Sadie witnesses one of Rhys’ panic attacks, and then keeps witnessing them. She helps him more than she realises, and he wants to help her back but she won’t let him in. My favourite character is Rhys because he is thoughtful, caring, protective, loving. My least favourite character is Coach Kelley because he is creepy, manipulative, controlling, abusive. I recommend this book because they’re protective of each other, they help each other be better people, and they care about each other no matter what. It’s also a really interesting story in regards to his accident and her home life. She thinks she’s hard to love and he loves her like it’s breathing. I love how she thinks she’s hard to love because it’s so realistic. Even when she’s in love, she’s still got a lot of trauma, meaning she lashes out when she’s hurting and that doesn’t just change overnight. ‘But I’m in her orbit now, and she’s becoming my g*dd*mn centre of gravity. Whether she realises it or not.’

i cried many tears
I usually never write a review. This is my first. I read this book within 24 hours, stay up until early in the morning to read. To read until my eyes couldn‘t anymore and when i woke up this morning the first thing i could do was grab my kindle. This book left me emotionally raw today. I cried so hard because it touched the deepest parts of my heart. How i saw myself in Sadie yet also in Rhys. How i griefed for her and also for myself.Thank you for writing this fantastic book. I will always keep it close to my heart.I also healed a little bit while reading it.

Favorite read of the year
The emotional roller coaster this book put me through is insane.I have never felt a love like this for a book ever, it ruined me for every other book and will be a favorite comfort read for me*This is a long review but just know that it’s my favorite read of the year!* Sadie is one of the strongest and sassiest fmc I have ever read about. She takes care of her two younger brothers, skates so that she can stay in school, working three job and on top of this dealing with their fatherRhys was severely injured in a hockey match and is struggling with his mental health. He’s struggling with anxiety over something that he loves and don’t know how to deal with it because he doesn’t want to worry anyone. But Sadie saw him, helped him even though she kept telling herself that she couldn’t take responsibility for him. At the same time that Sadie became an anchor for Rhys, Rhys became an anchor for Sadie and her brothers. Even though she tried to push him away he stayed, for her, for her brothers, because he is like his father. He protect and loves with everything he has and Sadie is the center of his life, which means he’d do anything to make her happy. I loved how he accepted that Oliver and Liam was a package deal that he got along with Sadie and how he approached Oliver slowly to let him have the control and how he always reassured them all that he wasn’t leaving, that they weren’t a burden and that they too we’re lovedThe love these two developed for each other is something anyone dream about, the one that with just one look at each other you feel safe and loved.
