Tortillas
Works as made to. Quality materials and construction. Same quality as the more expensive brands. I would buy again.

Simply the best
Excellent tortilla press. The press is heavy, as all cast iron is, and durable. I'm impressed with the value. I had an aluminum one before this and always thought it was too flimsy for the job. I chose the 9.84" version because I was being cheap - it had been marked down at the time I ordered it so I took a chance. I'm glad I did. It makes the perfect sized tortillas. I didn't use the parchment paper rounds included with it because I think plastic works better. I discovered by lifting the top of the plastic after pressing, the tortilla literally peels itself off the plastic. It didn't work as easily using the parchment paper but it was worth the experiment. Plus the plastic is a simple rinse and reuse. Can't do that with paper. The thickness of the tortillas was awesome. If folks follow the instructions that come with the press, thinness isn't a problem. I popped them on my Hexclad frying pan as I made them so I was done with twenty tortillas almost as fast as I could press them out.

Uneven
Very sturdy. Knocked a star because it does squish harder on one side than the other. So “press turn 180. Press”. Does good. But its an extra step i dont think should be needed.

Quality Product
Received this sooner than expected. It was well package and had no damage. I haven't used this yet, however, I am very please so far. It's solid and came with replacement hardware for those "just in case" repairs. I plan to put this press to good use this weekend and freeze some tortillas for the future. If product performance is poor, I will update review - but this item is so simple to use, if the tortillas don't come out well, it's probably my fault and not the press LOL.

Defective Product
I finally got this out to use for the first time. The cast iron cracked and broke on the first use. I was able to press two tortillas before I heard a loud crack, and it came apart. Very disappointed and will not buy again.

Works great!
Get this thing a little hot and it works great for making tortillas! If you make homemade tortillas, this makes it 50 times easier.

Buy it!
I’ve been looking for a tortilla press to make flour tortillas, for a long time. I’ve tried electric ones, and they just don’t work. They don’t press them thin enough, they don’t heat up right, and they break. I used this one on my gas stove on the lowest setting to press them, then cooked them on a separate comal/griddle. The weight of the cast iron pressed them to a perfect thickness, and I had the best tortillas ever! It’s very sturdy, so I’m sure it will last. And the price was great! Very happy with my purchase.

Not Quite the Final Step, But a Solid Start
This tortilla press wants to be the hero of your kitchen—but if you’re chasing that perfectly thin, traditional flour tortilla, it only gets you halfway there. It flattens the dough into a respectable disc, but not thin enough for real-deal tortillas. I always have to follow up with a rolling pin to finish the job. So if you're dreaming of paper-thin flour tortillas, don’t toss your rolling pin just yet. To be fair, I haven’t used it for corn tortillas, which it might be better suited for. It’s well-built, feels sturdy in the hand, and makes prep faster. It’s just not magic—and it doesn’t flatten as much as you’d think unless you’re making tiny tortillas for toddlers or tapas. Bottom line: it’s a good tool, but not the one-stop solution you might expect. Great for saving time, but traditionalists (and perfectionists) will still be rolling by hand.

This is disappointing. The press doesn’t create thin enough tortillas. They are quite thick and look more like pitta bread. The dough also sticks to the provided paper regardless of how much flour we use. Attached is a photo of two tortillas: the large thin one we rolled manually. The thicker one at the back is from the press.

Decided to start making my own tortillas when I realized how many bad ingredients were in the store-bought ones. The cast-iron press is really sturdy and well-made and performs perfectly. The bonus and surprise was the small cast-iron skillet that came with it for cooking the tortillas. It’s really nice!
