No instructions - read this
This product serves its purpose well, But there are no directions, and the screws are not color coded as they have been for over 100 years. The hot or black side should have a brass screw (okay this was right because they were all brass colored), the white or neutral a silver screw and the ground a green one. I have the experience to know that the wide prong is the white or neutral. It was only after I took the ground prong out that I noticed there was a stripping guide, but I still cant figure out what it was describing. To guard against a stress failure, the wire should be run under the notch and then clockwise under the screw. As added insurance, I wrapped a small zip tie on the end of the cord about 1/4 inch back from where the covering was removed. The pieces were stiff to reunite, but a pair of channellock pliers provided the nudge.

These Work Just FINE!
I use these to make extension cords from old appliance cords. And they are fine! I admit I was skeptical after reading reviews for these from other vendors. So many complaints. So let's address them. "Screws too small. May not hold when pulled out by cord". Dude, You are NOT supposed yank them out by the cord! "They don't look "heavy duty enough"". They aren't! They're rated for 15 amps. I have no doubt they'll handle that just fine! "The screws are not COLOR CODED".. True, they are not. But if you can't tell common from hot without colored screws.... you shouldn't be installing these in the first place! Bottom line, if you want heavy duty, be prepaired to spend 5 to 7 bucks each. These are $7.00 for THREE. They are a great deal. I will definitely buy them again!

Bad fitment with standard plugs
Not sized to standards, so very difficult to set up to make it work. Male plug's ground prong is too wide for many receptacles. Luckily it is V shaped so you can squeeze it smaller to make it work. However the female plug has two issues. First, it is just too big around the outside casing to fit inside the recessed inlet used by many garden tools which come with a very short cord with their male plug recessed in a surrounding enclosure. I fixed this by grinding down around the outside perimeter using an electric orbital sander. Second, and more difficult to deal with it that its ground prong hole is too small for many male plugs to fit into. I sort of fixed this by working first a small flat screwdriver blade into the hole and bending the internals open, then a larger flat screwdriver blade. This is probably a little dangerous and requiring luck to work, but is working for me for now. Very, very substandard quality as far as fit.

Great value and plug‼️
Had to replace a plug on my pole saw…and these were a great value, easy to install, and will most likely last many years!

Not for the nephyte electrician
This is not a unit for the neophyte electrician. Rated at 15amps, it will need a #14 wire. The metal contacts are a friction fit in the holder that comes out with the removal on one screw. There are 2 styles of contact profiles, one for hot and neutral, one for ground. Hot an neutral go in only one way if you wish to keep the wire hold down screws to the outside. The screws that hold down the wires to the contact are not captive, if you back them out too far they will fall out. The heads are not sized correctly, so even if the strands are wound tightly, the screw will dig in and separate the strands leading to a possible short. I had to 'tin' the wires, using a solder gun and solder to coat the ends so they would not unravel. It took holding the contact with pliers in order to tighten the screws down properly. The cable clamp for the wire jacket is a friction fit, it was very hard to get the rubber covered wire I was using into the end. Chances are most wires will be too small to use the friction as a strain relief and you will have to tie a knot in the wire to keep it from pulling out, good luck with that. The only good thing about these is the price. If you are experienced with installing these type of plugs and connectors, you will find it a bit more difficult than using a modern Leviton, and more like old school from the 1950's
