X10 MC10A Plug-in Mini Controller, White

Long-time X-10 fan here. It's old technology but it works well. This mini-controller is essential for controlling multiple X-10 devices. It can control up to 8 lights with dimming. The X-10 system works by sending signals through your existing electrical wiring to switch devices on and off. Dimming is also possible with the proper modules. I've been using X-10 gear for over 30 years. I bought this module to replace an older one that finally died after decades of use. X-10 was pretty cool tech back in the day but I guess it can't compare to the ever-expanding voice command systems like Alexa. If you have X-10 devices or lighting modules, this controller is a perfect companion.

Works flawlessly- I replaced an older X-10 controller that did not always work; problems are gone now. It would be nice if this was offered in black. It would blend in nicely

Used with existing x10 worked fine

We have a X-10 wall switch transmitter control that is old and not working well. It switches on fine but does not seem to send the “off” signal. Got this controller to rectify it without having to go through the problem of replacing the wall controller (as it may also be a wiring/interference problem). As this just plugs in to a wall outlet, I was able to find a location closer to the receiver (guessing that there may be less interference if there is less cable distance to “transmit” though) and it works perfectly. See it up in 30 seconds! Still use the wall controller for the “on” (it controls a fountain) and this unit for the “off”

This gizmo works as described and can turn the modules on and off and adjust the lamp brightness. The instructions are a little confusing because a module labeled 1B or 1C or 2C is not clearly described in the pamphlet. Fooling around with it for a while will clear it up a bit... it will not change the brightness on those new CFL bulbs. They are either on or off, so I don't know what type will work with x10 lamp modules. Maybe the newer LED bulbs can be varied. I was able to turn the water fountain and other appliances on and off but if you must remember that the switch on the appliance must be turned on to use this controller. An appliance that has an electronic on off switch will not work because you have to physically hold the button to turn it on..it will not turn on from a remote. This is good for remote switching of yard lights and fountain pumps etc. and areas that are not easily accessable. I have an old C64 computer that does the same thing but can turn modules on and off at preset times... but this item is worth the price.

Most of the X10 controllers for sale now are the wireless ones that require you to get the wireless to power-line converter module. This is a TRUE power-line controller. This is all you need to operate X10 modules.

This is the perfect controller if you use automated lighting controls in your home or office the X 10 products that offer a number of different handheld devices to control lighting is all in one unit this unit you simply plug it in and if you’ve already installed the X 10 products on the various devices you want to turn on or offer for control. This unit will control it all. I highly recommend it.

I was looking for an X10 controller to replace the one had from Radio Shack. The Radio Shack controller was really old, and it finally stopped working. So I decided to give this one a try, and it works great.
