G-Technology G-DRIVE mobile SSD R-Series 1TB, black

When I bought this I thought it was a pretty good bit of kit at a reasonable price. Storage prices have dropped considerably since then, and it's still pretty useful, but 1TB is now looking a bit small. Still using it for backing up one laptop, but I would now look for 2TB at least, probably at less cost.

I bought this to see if I could use it to edit 4K footage. I put all the folders, clips and FCPX libraries in it and it all edits super fast. I do have a full spec 27 inch 5K retina iMac but even with a USB 3 connection to the Mac it is very fast.

I was surprised by how small the drive is, although if I had actually paid attention to the sizes on the description it was stated. The drive is super fast both read and write. I use it for VMs on my MacBook Pro and can copy a 100GB VM to the drive in under 3 minutes, really happy with this drive.

This appears to be intended for Mac Users as it would not work on my Windows Laptop. It should have been made clearer at the point of sale. Very disappointing.

Super fast ssd, portable, shock proof and very good price. What more do you need?!
