Very versatile and effective sound unit
I'm mostly using the Ocean Digital WR-860 for internet radio, as I'm too far away from the FM stations I like. I did put the unit through its paces to test all its abilities (except for one mode) and here are my results: (Internet radio) It shines here, with Skytune as its engine. Hundreds of stations and genres, good onscreen information, solid performance given a solid broadband connection. Easy to mark favorites. (Media centre) It found my private DLNA server (local Plex media server on my laptop) immediately, good interface. (DAB HD radio) Unable to test this, no DAB broadcasters in my part of the world. (FM radio) Okay results, mostly because I don't have a lot of local broadcast options. Manual tuning mode is cumbersome, but you can choose scanning signal strength between "strongest stations only" and "all stations." (Bluetooth) Paired right away, latency of around half a second. Worked fine. Note: bluetooth only one direction, from another device to send audio to the radio unit. If you want to use bluetooth wireless headphones or earbuds for output, you'll need a dongle to plug into the output jack. (Aux-in) Worked exactly as expected. (MP3 on USB) (MP3 on Micro SD card) Worked fine, but does not interpret metadata, album covers or sort. If a folder equals an album, you can choose it individually. Alarms, sleep timers, audio EQ, remote control (included) and remote control via smart phone app all available and functional. Some depth to the menus, but the scrolling knob on top is a great help. The volume knob is incremental. Buttons atop unit are responsive and quick, remote buttons are standard and effective. I wish there was an easy way to switch between daytime mode, with the unit making sound but showing the clock, and nighttime mode, with the unit in standby and the clock very dim or off but not in power off mode via the back switch. The display is dimmable, but then I want it brighter the next day. Not a huge deal. Overall this unit is exactly what I was looking for.

Recommended!
Why did you pick this product vs others?: An excellent internet radio, beautifully designed, with surprisingly good, warm, loud, and full sound (to my decidedly non-audiophile ears.) The software is not the most intuitive, but once you tinker around a little, you will get the hang of it. Play around with the EQ and presets to see what sounds best to you, and keep in mind that the quality of audio does vary depending on the streaming quality of the stations selected. Obviously it doesn't have huge bass response, but it has much more of it than I had expected. Skytune has a very large selection of radio stations from all over the world, and you can suggest stations for them to add in case some are missing. Good FM reception. There's no DAB where I live, and haven't tried the USB/MicroSD/Aux inputs yet, though I appreciate that they are there. I like that there are separate fixed volume line-out and headphone jacks, though having the headphone jack on the front/top would have been ideal. There is a slight audio lag when playing videos from my laptop over Bluetooth, though I am not sure if that's a problem with the laptop or the radio. The remote is pretty useful, but would have appreciated a dedicated button to shift over quickly to BT mode. Overall, highly recommended if you are looking for a stand-alone internet radio player.

Amazing Radio!
It's hard to know where to start, SOUND: Amazing Bass, way more than I expected and very clean. EQ: Several Presets for different types of broadcasts + Customer Custom. Ease of SetUp: I am 72 and had it set up and connected to WIFI in less than 20 minutes and I have a long password. QUALITY: The quality is excellent though screen could be a bit larger, layout is nice with knobs and buttons on top. FM sensitivity I wish I could manually tune but it only scans for stations, I live in Northern Washington and listen to some Canadian radio and can pick up on internet but not tune manually so no DXing here, I will try scanning in mono scan and see if I get the Canadian station. So still learning but so far I like this radio a lot. SIZE: It's big 12.5" W x 7.5" D x 6" H. SCREEN: It is a color screen, about 2.5" Diagonal, words and numbers are a bit small for my old eyes from 2 feet but fine at 1-1.5 feet. EASE OF USE: At 72 I have had no problems navigating this radio or connecting to WIFI with it. I have knocked down one star because of not being able to manually tune this radio but also still learning and many would never need that option. I bought this with my own dollars and was not giving any deal or agreement for this review and hope this will help others.

Thinking About Buying This Radio? Read On
So you’ve got lots and lots of choices out there in internet radios and undoubtedly some are better than others. You MUST consider one main factor First! What is their Search Database like, how easy is it to use And will it have all the offerings that You want? Ocean Digital uses SKYTUNE and others use less capable search databases. I know, I’ve tried most of them. Also, there is another major player out there that has name recognition for 2 reasons. #1 Because they were probably the first in the introduction of internet radios for home consumers And #2 Because their internet database search engine supplier went Out Of Business… Thousands upon thousands of their internet radio owners were left without radios that would work.Even those who had just bought new radios were left with what was basically a brick. That well known company is back, again selling well built radios with horrible a database search engine. Avoid those radios, also “lightning may strike twice” with them! Ocean Digital internet radios work virtually flawlessly. Wonderful SKYTUNE search database, well constructed, reasonably priced and nice designs. Being impressed with my first one, a WR-860, I decided to try their smaller WR-390. That one was as easy to setup as the first one and worked flawlessly. Problem for me was the 860 was really too big for my nightstand so I decided to move it to the den and bought the 390 and it fits great. Got to thinking about a portable smaller internet radio to use in the garage and back yard while grilling. Did the usual Amazon search and read reviews. Man there are some Expensive portable radios out there And some pretty cruddy reviews. Then came across the Ocean Digital WR-18 portable. Man it looked exactly like what I wanted! So I bought it and it came in today. You know what? Wonderful sound that you can set about any way you want, same great SKYTUNE search database, easy peasy setup for my saved presets and recognized my internet WiFi quickly. It was like a mini-me of the other two units. So you’re looking and trying to make an educated decision about What to buy and If it will fill Your Needs, well look no further than Ocean Digital! Your biggest decision is what size is best for you. I hope you enjoy your new Ocean Digital! I’m enjoying mine👍

Ocean Digital WR-860 is BRILLIANT!
Going to keep this simple... I don't leave many reviews, but when a product or a service is extraordinary, I do take the time to let others know. If you are interested in an Internet Stereo Radio that is modestly priced, look no further then this Ocean Digital WR-860. It had the features I was interested in: Internet Radio, FM Radio and the ability to play content from a USB Drive. Once connected to the Internet, you really no longer need the Antenna for FM as you can find and save the FM Stations that you want to listen to. Here is where this unit excels. 1. Sound. It really sounds fantastic for a unit of its size and price. It is surprisingly good. 2. The SW programming of this unit is very well done so that the user of this product can easily set things up. Kudo's to their engineers as you don't need to be a rocket scientist to get things up and running. So many other positives like the date & time is set up and synced automatically thru the internet, the color display is nice and has all of the Station / Song information you would ever need, the remote works great, etc., etc., etc. I'm extremely pleased with my purchase and am considering buying a second unit for another location in my home. Highly recommend.

looks and sounds good in the pictures, BUT...
Read some reviews and watched a few videos reviewing this radio (WR-860) before deciding to purchase it, and I have to say that I'm quite disappointed. Upon initial power-on, there's a small, but very noticeable black vertical line on the right quarter of the screen. This is indicative of poor quality displays, and you'll usually see this happen on tv screens, EXCEPT brand new tv's don't do this right out of the box! Second, the sound quality.. For the price, the sound quality is mediocre at best, especially if you try to listen to music any higher than half volume because the speakers will start to distort and sound like their blown. I suppose It's acceptable for podcasts or talk radio, and maybe background music in a small room, or in a small office environment. On the upside, the radio was easy to configre and setup, and was a straight forward process that takes no more than a few minutes. I really like the looks of the radio, and it the main reason why I decided to buy it in the first place, and aside from all the negatives, I still say this is one of the BEST LOOKING small radios out there. I suspect that I won't hear back from OceanDigital about this review, as I have seen zero replies from them to address known problems with the screen on the WR-860 radio.

Quality Radio
Very nice radio. I use it listen to news and it has good sound. I can’t comment on how well it plays music. Nice features, you can select which days you can have the alarm set for. Easy to connect to the WiFi. We’ll build for the money. The display shows the time, date and date of the week when it is off.

Update - Does not work with mesh routers.
This radio worked fine for 3 months then would no longer connect to SkyTune. Working with Ocean Digital help desk several suggestions were made and tried and photos of the screen status were sent and then I was told this radio will not work with a Mesh Router setup. Really? It worked and now it doesn't? Not only will it not connect to SkyTune it will not connect to my iPhone hotspot, and bluetooth fails and will not connect. So all I really have is a nice FM radio with an aux connection. Of course it failed after the Amazon return date. Update: Today the WR-860 connected to my eero routers! Apparently, contrary to the "help desk" information, you CAN connect to mesh routers. I do like the radio, and when working it is a 4 star radio It would be a 5 star if you could connect the internet without being locked into SkyTunes only.
