Burger press has an edge
The press itself has an edge so you can't actually flatten the Burgers. it's not completely flat.

decent kit for smash burgers
this is a nice kit that gives you all you need to cook smash burgers at home (minus the pan obviously).the spatula is nice and wide with a decent sharp ramp for getting underneath whatever needs spatula'ing, being metal it's obviously of limited usefulness on certain cookware surfaces but if it's compatible then it works well.the shaker is handy for keeping a blend of your patented burger spices on hand. I have a secret mix i use to recreate the sausage patties from egg mcmuffins that i add to the meat when making them now I can mix it up in advance and keep it in the shaker so I can knock a few minutes off my routine early in the morning when i've just woken up, it also comes with a silicon cap to keep it airtight so the contents will stay fresher for longer.then we have the patty press. it's a nice press and well made but I was surprised to find that the underside has a lip around the edge and the base is not actually a flat surface as I was expecting, this means anything you smash will only flatten to as thick as the lip on the press. this can be a good thing but i feel it restricts it's usefulness in other scenarios you might have otherwise found use for it. it also means there needs to be contact with the press and the base of the pan to get it as thin as possible, which again cookware dependent could be an issue (and why this is a 4/5 not 5/5)also worth noting is the inside edge of the lip is quite sharp and requires some care when cleaning not to run it across your skin as i think it could give you a cut quite easily if it caught you just right. with more use I'm sure it will dull a little but would be nicer if it had been rounded off in the factory for safety.
