Optoma Laser UHD (UHZ66) is out of this world!
Amazing picture quality; brightness, clarity and color all beautiful. Low noise. Needed to adjust to HDR brightness for my room but very easy to do. Using this for UHD Bluray 2D/3D, 4k Firestick, PS5 Pro and Switch 2. All run great and the 3D movies are incredible; very colorful and crisp (way better than at the movies). Very pleased overall!

Optoma UHZ66 laser projector
I previously owned an Optoma HD20. I got 10 years out of it before it pooped out. I use my projector as my everyday TV. So it gets used alot. Was wanting to get into the laser 4k market so that I wouldn't have to mess with replacing lamps. I zeroed in on the Optoma UHZ66. I read all of the reviews and was very skeptical because there really weren't many postitive reviews. So I took a chance. Got it for $1499. It had been listing at $1999. All I have to say it wow. The picture is amazing. My home theater is in my basement so there is no external lighting. I had to set the source light to 80% because it was so bright. I can't believe how crystal clear the image is. Setup was a breeze. Used the same ceiling mount. Not many channels are 4K but I watched the NFL playoffs and OMG. 4K is the real deal. The picture clarity is astounding. Watched Top Gun Maverick and it just popped. Amazing detail. Another positive is that when I changed it to 80% light source, the projector makes almost no discernable noise. Just a light hum. Seems like half of the fan noise that my HD20 produced. Focus is easy with the adjustable dial. Also the throw distance can be adjusted with the 2nd dial as well. Remote is super small which is kind of funny but it works. I've set up my system so that my 4k Firestick turns everything on and off and controlls the volume. Below are two pictures I took. First one is in HD and 2nd is 4k. Just unbelievable how clear it is. It's like being at the game. So if you are on the fence then jump off and buy the UHZ66. You won't be disappointed.

BUYER BEWARE!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! Dead Pixels and Bad DMD Chip. DONE WITH OPTOMA!
I am very frustrated. This projector had dead pixels due to the faulty DMD chip in the very first month so I was able to return it to Amazon (thank goodness) and they exchanged it. That was unit #1. Unit #2 - this one had the same failure right after the 1-year warranty ended. I will never understand why a several thousand dollar unit would only have a 1-year warranty. It should be at least 2 years but more like 5 years seems appropriate when you spend this kind of money. Try #3 - Now even after having the DMD chip replaced, I am AGAIN, getting dead pixels before we are even at 90 days. This unit is obviously a lemon to have the same issue happen so many times in a row and in such short time frames. I keep my home immaculately clean and I air the projector out once a month like clockwork. I also have the unit set with my AV receiver to auto-turn off whenever there is no activity for 20 minutes. The unit is in open air and well-ventilated so I don't understand what the cause is except for an inherently defective DMD chip. I honestly don't think there is anything more I could do to baby this unit barring putting a custom cooling unit on it, which I shouldn't have to do. I would really like to see Optoma get me into a unit that is equal to or better than the UHZ50. I feel that I have been through enough with this unit. Every time it goes out, my family has no home entertainment for several weeks which is unacceptable. Not to mention the hassle of uninstalling the unit from the ceiling and having to reinstall, adjust, and recalibrate every time. When I think Optoma it makes my stomach sick, which is not the feeling that I should have with your brand. I would like to know that you have admitted this unit has inherent defects and take care of me. This is my 5th Optoma Projector and I have been happy with all the other models I have had. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I sincerely hope you can take care of me.

Highly recommend!
Obviously not cheap per se, but worth every penny. I've tried several others and all had their pros and cons, this unit has no cons. Nice picture, good color and yes you can watch this in broad daylight. Im at about 10,000 hours of play at this time and have had zero issues. It just works.

Lasers projectors are awesome...don't get an optoma
I would rate it a 1 star but the projector did have good quality image for it's life. However it got a DEAD PIXEL! For thousands of dollars you shouldn't have DMD chips dying so early on you. It lasted 4 years for me. That is longer than other people who spoke their mind got out of it. Just look at the other reviews. Check reddit for dead pixels on laser projectors. Guarantee you optoma will be on the list. Do yourself a favor. Buy a nice projector and enjoy the awesomeness of it all...just don't buy an Optoma.

A Great Laser Projector
Update: One thing Optoma tech support confirmed is that all Optoma projectors use a color wheel to make single Laser to RGB. This is less advanced based on current projector technology. UHZ66 is one of my bast projectors. Having a tri laser UST, and a single laser long throw with colorwheel before. Found why there were low review ratings was due to the mix of older models with UHZ66 together and I was concerned before. Did research from the similar price ranges, some got bad chromatic dispersion and made me dizziness when watching white text. Picked up UHZ66 and no regret. Color is accurate after increased RED via CMS tune. You can make more pop and colorful images but I'd like more natural images. Auto switch to HDR mode based on the source. Brightness of 4000 ansi lumens is more than enough under daylight or lights. I tuned light source mode to 80% and that's enough for most watching. Four cornor and 5x3 warp are so good to adjust a little off center placement to fit the screen so much better than the simple keystone. Got this one to replace a dead LG HU80Ka got 6 years ago in the eat-in kitchen with 120in motorized drop down screen. This is a simple, compact, no smart but a great displayer. Only one most important thing to a projector is its image quality and UHZ66 is just for that. This one is way better than the one replaced. Although it is only one laser light, but no colorwheel and it is almost comparable to the 3 laser UST in my familyroom. You just need to add a content streamer, like Amazon Fire 4k TV, and a sound bar, like Amazon Soundbar with a universal remoter like Sofabaton i got. The speaker on the projector is only for system sound. A wifi streamer and a soundbar are must. Although the soundbar is capable with Bluetooth, I still use hdmi to make the direct connection. I highly recommend UHZ66.

Loving this projector
I selected this projector to replace an older InFocus that was in my home when I bought it. Laser means no more bulb replacements, and the 4K picture quality is outstanding. Brightness: I paired it with a 165” Aeon screen from Elite Screens, and my theater room looks wonderful. I was concerned that the 1.3 reflectivity might make things a little hot with this bright projector, but it’s great. And since I totally suck at getting the screen completely square and level, the four corner adjustment on this projector came in really handy. Gaming: My son even can play COD using the gaming mode without complaining about input lag! I’m too old, so my reflexes are a bigger problem than lag, but it’s rare that I can keep him happy on a display. The only thing bugging me right now - and this is super-minor - is the little message about the resolution and frame rate that pops up in the corner whenever either of those things changes in a source. I didn’t realize how many different combinations of such are kicking out through my Apple TV. But maybe there’s a way to turn that off.

Highly recommended
We are absolutely thrilled with the Optoma UHZ45 projector! The 4K UHD resolution delivers incredibly crisp and vibrant images with exceptional clarity. It's like having a cinema in your living room! One of the standout features for me is the enhanced gaming mode. It takes gaming to the next level with a lightning-fast 16.7ms response time in 4K at 60Hz and an impressive 4ms in 1080p at 240Hz. Gamers, you're in for a treat! The projector is packed with the latest technology, including HDR and HLG compatibility, three HDMI 2.0 inputs, and Full 3D support. Plus, the integrated speaker is a nice bonus. What really sets the UHZ45 apart is its laser technology. As per the specs, I read it offers 30,000-hour maintenance-free laser light source, I hope I can enjoy hours of entertainment worry-free. (Will update if required) The color accuracy is exceptional, and the dynamic contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 truly enhances the visual experience. I can confidently say that the Optoma UHZ45 has exceeded my expectations, and I'm thoroughly enjoying recreating the big-screen experience at home. It's a fantastic investment for any home theater enthusiast or gamer. Highly recommended!"
