Review: MAGNIFICENT IS BUT A SMALL WORD - I'll start off with the quality of the book - • The cover is absolutely gorgeous. • The pages are delicate (not as sturdy as other publications but still good) and have a premium feel. I seem to love it. • The font is small but still readable and it's appealing to the eye. • Absolutely no damages of any kind. • No bookmark received. • You can see the size of the book compared to a regular notebook. Now, about the Novel - Swann's Way by Marcel Proust is the 1st Volume of the book 'In Search of Lost Time' which consists of a total of 7 Volumes (a total of around 4000 pages). Swann's Way is one of the Greatest Novels of the 20th century to be ever written. The way the book is written is absolutely gorgeous, beautiful, poetic, magnificent, glorious, splendid, spectacular................................................................ Still, it's not a book for everyone, The book is a Remembrance of Things Past and Proust's narrative can sometimes be complex. The first 50pgs of the book deals with the topic Sleep, and the next 200 about the narrater's town, only then does the real plot begin, Swann's Jealous Love. Nonetheless, Proust's prose is breathtaking and is a must-read for every book lover out there. Hope this was helpful. Review: A slow burn that creeps into your thoughts and leave you thirsting for more. - One of the masterpieces of French literature and stream-of-consciousness literature, Marcel Proust's magnum opus is not an easy read. It defies the conventional structure of a novel, instead placing us squarely in the mind of the protagonist, where predominantly the action takes place. The book is slow, but in the best way possible. The flavours do not hit you immediately, but leaves a bittersweet aftertaste that makes you crave for more. The delivery was quick, with the product being delivered the day after. The pages are a pale shade of white, similar to every other edition of Penguin Classics. It looks gorgeous but serves little practical purpose, as one cannot annotate or mark their text as it may tear and/or bleed through the pages. The book is lightweight and thus, can be carried everywhere without being a burden. The introduction and the notes at the back help the reader be grounded to the text without feeling lost amidst this masterpiece of an artwork.

Difficult but enjoyable
Gives a glimpse of what lies below the surface, whether in thinking or in memories or experiences. Very enjoyable if you can stick with it. After the first 50 pages or so, you get used to the writing style. Needs reflection though, so don't expect to read more than 20 pages a day. Highly recommended!

Great book...Great pages
I think I don't have to say anything about this great novel. Also the quality of the pages are really good which are binded together spreading over 400 pages.

Quality not upto par
I got this from penguin believing it to be original by paying more as compare to other publishers. the page quality is ok but the pages are note cut properly as seen in the photo. Some pages are cut smooth and sum are not. not giving an overall good experience of reading a book.

Good Quality
Good quality and looks really good. I'm not gonna talk about the book itself. Overall penguin did a good job with this particular edition. Cover looks beautiful and the colors make it very attractive.

Perfect
Proust is an aquired taste for some and a poseur for others but i fell in love with the book instantaneously. If you're reading this, i suppose you know about the book already, most people do but only a handful ever read it. I highly recommend it. And Lydia Davis has translated it brilliantly, i love her.

Proust Swann’s Way - the Kindle imprint with some abstract nudes on the cover This is a massive book, so it warrants splitting the review into a few categories Presentation on Kindle There are only four sections, so although the lack of a fully enabled contents page is annoying it is not a deal breaker. You can access the contents at the start of the book and follow the links from there. There are numerous scanning errors, the odd wrong letter, but they are easy enough to ignore. There are no extras to speak of. Translation There are at least two translations available, this is the earlier one by CK Scott Moncrieff (1922) and although it is certainly old fashioned, it is wonderfully fluid and evocative. The book This is the first of seven volumes making up In Search of Lost Time. The entire book is a classic of Modernist literature, Le Monde rates it as the second best book of the twentieth century, under Camus, which does not seem entirely ridiculous. It is intensely introspective, the first half is the unnamed narator reminiscing about his childhood in the village of Combray, the third section tells of Swann an elegant well connected Jew who falls in and out of love with a courtesan, while in the fourth and final part, the young narator falls, obsessively, in love with Swann's daughter. Not only is this a long book, but very little happens, it is filled with reflection and observations, rather than incident. I would suggest that if you are struggling, then just skip to the third section, Swann in Love, which is wonderfully acerbic and wry. You will miss the famous madeleines passage, but not too much else. Despite its stellar reputation, once you get into the way of his writing, Proust is genial company. An easy, albeit uneventful read, with dazzling insights into an elegant, snobby world. The main problem for readers is that by the time he reaches the end of a sentence, or passage, you have forgotten how it started. Accordingly reading a summary of the book can be helpful to explain exactly what has happened. Probably not for everyone, but well worth a try if you are curious, once I got into it, I was surprised at how easy a read it actually was.
