I purchased this as a replacement for the original on my Monesson stove. So far, it's working better than the original. Installation was fairly straight forward but due to the small space on the stove it took some time to install. The temp reading on the remote appears to read a couple of degrees high. This is based on comparing to a cheap wall thermometer. I haven't checked if there's a way to calibrate the remote.

The remote initially could turn our fireplace on / off, but by the end of the first day it no longer did. We changed all batteries, reread all instructions, changed the 4-PIN security code on both the remote and the receiver unit, still not fixed. No phone number on the packaging to get help. No phone number online. Feels like we are stuck with a bad unit and no way to resolve.

We put a gas fireplace in our home about 15 years ago. It came with a remote which stopped working after a couple years so we just turned our fireplace on and off by sticking our hand in there and manually flipping the switch. In the last five years, I’ve started having a company come out every fall to clean my fireplace. They take all of the logs out, clean and sweep everything inside, clean off the logs and replace them and replace the fabric material that resembles embers. I asked how much it would cost to have them replace my remote and it was ridiculous… Something like $200. I opted not to do that because I’m a thrifty person and would rather get up and turn it on manually than to spend that kind of money. Every year, when they come out, I mention this and they always quote me a high price to replace the remote, but this year I was lucky enough to get a service guy who told me that I could just buy one of these remotes on Amazon. In fact, he even helped me look up the correct one to purchase and told me how to connect it, which was super easy… Just unplugged the old one and plugged in the new one. So, now I have a functioning remote for my fireplace which is absolutely identical to the one that stopped working. Love it. It has the option of automatically turning on and off depending on the temperature control that you set it to. I do not use that feature because it scares me to think of my fireplace turning on if I am not at home. Anyway, thank goodness for an honest repair man. I would suggest if you don’t know which type of remote to get, just google the make and model of your fireplace to find the remote, and then get onto Amazon and search that item. Easy – breezy.

Easy to set up. Even with the receiver switch behind the fireplace panel, the controller works from anywhere in the room. Nice feel to the controller. The on/off/auto is straight forward.
