My journey to find the right sugar substitute has been ongoing for a few years now, all because of my older brother's diabetes diagnosis. I've experimented with various alternatives, from honey and coconut sugar to a range of sweeteners like sucralose and stevia. Some were too sweet, others not sweet enough, and many left a rather unpleasant aftertaste. These Stevia + Erythritol 1:2 Sweetener sachets have piqued my interest. They might not be the sweetest option out there, but I've found that using two sachets for a 350ml mug works well for me. The best part is that they don't leave any of that strange aftertaste that's all too common with sweeteners. What I appreciate most is their handy 2.5g sachet size, which makes them easy to carry around. To be completely honest, I'd prefer a sweetener made solely from stevia, but I have to admit that this blend comes pretty close to the taste of regular white sugar. It's become a reliable choice in my search for a suitable sugar substitute.

I recently started drinking coffee again, however I do like it to be sweet. I don’t want to use sugar as I’m watching the calories. It’s really difficult to find a sweetener that is natural and does not taste bad. I used stevia sweeteners before, I don’t mind it but it can have an aftertaste that not everyone can put up with. This sweetener is nothing like it. It’s closer tasting to sugar than any other one I tried before and because it’s got erythritol it’s also good for you! The sweeteners are packed in individual sachets, each containing about a teaspoon of the sweetener (2.5 g). All are packed in a cardboard box with an opening in front. The sweetener is a mix of stevia and erythritol (1:2 ratio). There’s 204 sachets in the box. The current price is only £11. 97. It only takes two sachets for the perfect sweetness in my coffee. The sachets are also easy to throw in your bag to have on the go. The flavour is so good, I don’t miss sugar at all and erythritol is also good for the teeth. I feel like the price is very good as well for the amount and quality you get. I 1000% recommend it. I’ll be repurchasing it again after I finish this box!

Terrible aftertaste

Stevia and erythritol do not have the same ratio of sweetness as regular sugar, so you need to do some trial and error until you find the perfect dose for your drink. You might need half a bag if you are usually using one regular sugar. Also, they do taste differently from sugar and it takes a week or so to get used to the different taste. Is like fizzy drinks... when you start drinking light or zero, it is different from the original, but when you get used to it, you don't go back because you know you save so many calories AND now you are used to this taste that the one seems SO SO sweet. So for me, since I am used to stevia and erythritol this one is absolutely great It comes really nicely packed and is very convenient to carry with you a few sachets or not have to use a specific container for sugar. It is well-priced for what it is and I am happy with the quality of the product.

Stevia and erythritol is a perfect combination of sweeteners, they compliment each other perfectly. Stevia is about 300 times sweeter than erythritol but used alone it doesn’t have the bulk that is needed when baking, so combining them gives the best of both worlds. Each sachet is equal to a teaspoon of sugar in sweetness making it perfect for drinks as well as adding to desserts etc. I had visitors today who asked for milk and two sugars in their coffee, if I had told them I had no sugar they would have declined their drinks. I made their coffees using two of these sachets each and they enjoyed them without even realising it wasn’t sugar. The sachets are really handy to pop in my bag or pocket when going into town or going to visit friends.

I ordered this because I don’t use real sugar anymore; I’m on a low-carb diet. I don’t like the taste of most artificial sweeteners either, they have a sour/bitter aftertaste. In the US, I had a specific brand I used that isn’t as readily available here. It was the only sugar substitute I found that tasted like sugar, without giving me sinus headaches or leaving a nasty aftertaste. I have been on a mission to find one here that I liked as much; this is as close as it gets. I like this sweetener, it gives me the sweetness I want without any aftertaste. I like my coffee sweet, and it only takes 2 packets of this to give me the sweet level I like. The bonus is that this comes in packets; I can throw few in my handbag. 😊
