Q: Im new to milling so go easy on me. Is there a problem milling pine with this unit?

I worked in the "Pulpwood" business for several years. Pine is a very soft wood and you shouldn't have any problems milling it as long as you have a good chainsaw and keep it sharp.

Q: I will be cutting wood slabs off tree's that are down will this work for that ? .

Yes. That is what this does. You just need to cut once with another flat guide attached to the log (a board or 2x4 will work in place of the more expensive rails, just don't cut your screws) and then adjust the depth to desired thickness and follow the flat cut for all later cuts.
