Easy and Challenging
No one should be under any illusions that the physical installation of the Acurite 5 in 1 can be a challenge. The device must be securely and safely mounted high enough to enable the wind meter to be accurate and the other sensors to be unaffected by the house itself. I already owned two six foot lengths of 1" steel pipe and mounting bracket I decided to use that. It took some finagling to adapt the 1" pipe to the provided adapter'. I had purchased the remote battery pack since I knew that once aloft I did not want to go through the hassle of lowering the masts every time the battery wore out. Since I live in NH, I followed the advice and order the lithium batteries so that would not freeze. I wisely decided to get the unit operating to be sure I wouldn't have to pull the unit down to solve some problem. I was amazed how quickly the unit appeared to connect with the display - five minutes for everything to appear. I think it is important to have the 5 in 1 working before bring the display up. Next, I brought the remote Access unit online and again was amazed how quickly the unit acquired the roof top device. Since we had not had rain in six weeks, I didn't realize I was going to have problem with the rain gauge. However, I went ahead and extend the pipes and wrap the provided tie-wraps, cleaned and went inside to download the myacurite.com app and was again amazed to see the device come up! Finally we got some rain and discovered that while the rain gauge was communicated with the display device it was not communicated through Access with myacurite.com. I went through the debug process suggested with the Access device but no luck. After waiting a week in case it started working, I contacted service through the website through email form. I received an instant acknowledge of my submission and received a human response within an hour or so. After a couple of emails I discovered that somehow a "phantom device" had intruded into myacurite.com and when I selected the correct device, the rain gauge started being picked up within a few minutes! I don't often write reviews but felt that when a company makes a complicated set of products that works out of the box and when I have a problem I receive a service response within an, I am impressed and wanted potential buyers to know. I would be happy to answer any questions.

I have a weather station!
While visiting a relative in another state, I saw and admired a weather station display in their livingroom. I got some information from them to look into a possible purchase. I have always been fascinated in the weather and I send reports in to a local TV station for their "skywatcher" spots. I knew this product would make my observations more complete, and a lot more fun! I was not disappointed! It was an easy installation and easy to use with my smartphone and desktop computer. The measurements appear to be accurate; I was able to verify measurements with other equipment. I think it's great that I can monitor conditions at home while on the road and even submit TV reports as if I was actually at home in my livingroom. I am monitoring a rainstorm as I write this....

I'm glad I have it; I wish it weren't so fragile.
My father-in-law has one of these, and I've really wanted one for a while. I finally ordered it, and started trying to install it. I mis-interpreted some of the installation instructions and the sensor fell and broke. My best guess is that it fell fifteen feet onto sod. It had a ten-foot-long joint of galvanized pipe attached, which would have increased the impact energy. Almost every boss and tab in the sensor broke. Bosses are the little cylindrical protrusions made the accept the screws that hold the pieces together. Tabs are used to hold the battery door in the bottom of the sensor. I think that if the plastic had fiberglass reinforcing fibers then the bosses wouldn't have broken. (By the way, if you want to know anything about plastic, electricity, gearing, or cursing in Canadian, then you should check out AvE's channel on YouTube.) I expect that the sensor has plenty of UV resistant materials included as neither my father-in-law nor any of the numerous other owners nearby appear to have had any problems on that score. I contacted the manufacturer of the sensor. They told me that they couldn't do anything for me except give me a 10% discount on another sensor. That wasn't much as they were giving that discount to anyone who ordered during that particular time frame. Well, I needed another sensor because the readout and the WiFi communicator were useless without it. (By the way, I didn't contact Amazon about this problem. Perhaps I should have as perhaps the answer would have been more palatable.) I think that if the manufacturer decided to save money by using non-fiberglass-reinforced plastics, then they should have been more willing to aid their customers when the sensor breaks.

We Love It!
We did not require Tech Support for setup nor have we had the station long enough to comment on battery life, so I've given each of those ratings only 3 stars at this point, but 5 stars overall. The station appears to provide accurate readings, looks fascinating on our deck, has an awesome display screen offering a wide variety of real time and historical info, no problems with networking connections/setup, has a great app for your remote device to check your backyard weather anytime from anywhere, components are easy to set up provided you're the type who can follow written instruction verbatim....who could ask for more from a personal weather station? We love it!

Works amazingly well! Easy to install!
Almost a year after purchase, still going strong with the original batteries that came with it. The wireless display is amazing, and this version has a wireless adapter to allow you to view it on an app from anywhere in the world! LOve it!

Great Home Weather Station!
This is a great addition to my backyard soundtrack! I will definitely recommend purchasing the one with the hub so that you can add additional sensors! And it also allows you to check it from anywhere you have Internet access!

The weather station is fantastic, being able to monitor weather on my iphone and ipad is great. Construction is solid and installation very straight forward. There are some issues, although minor and manageable - I live in the southern hemisphere and the station is set up for use in America i.e. 1. all the electrical plugs were for the USA, so I needed to buy adapters for Australia 2. the date formats can not be changed from USA format and 3. the wind direction on the weather station is set up for due south were as in the southern hemisphere everything is based on due north, so wind direction is out by 180 degrees. None of these issues can be changed via the settings on the weather station. Overall, very happy with the weather station and would recommend it to others.

Outside temperature and humidity sensor didn't work from the beginning, after many emails back and fourth from Acu-rite (which I will say their response times were good) they tell me that even though my product is under warranty i will have to buy a new sensor, so a brand new product doesn't work and I will have to spend more money on it... Go figure.... Obviously a regular problem as their Hard Resets are all based around the issue i have. I thought spending a few hundred dollars on a weather station would have resulted in something better than this. Unhappy customer.

I installed this on the corner of my chimney (no longer use the fireplace). I guess it's about 20 ft up. I can't speak for the rain gauge, as it's winter here in Edmonton Alberta. Everything else seems to work except the humidity readings on the outside unit. Sometimes is pretty close to the official weather station that's about 3km from my house and my other analog gauges. Other times, forget it. Sometimes, my other meters are reading 75% in close agreement and this thing is reading 98%. It doesn't matter...I'm not climbing back up there to take it down and return it for that. I mainly wanted it for outside temperature, barometer, and wind speed anyway. It seems other reviewers around the net are having these fail in 2 to 3 years. I figured for the money, if they last that long, it's worth it. Just don't expect it to last 10 year. It won't from what everyone else has said about them.
