Excellent solution for someone who doesn't drink alcohol.

It’s pretty well known, in French and other cuisines, that a splash - or more - of wine can really improve a recipe. But what do you do if you don’t actually drink that much and aren’t wanting to buy a whole bottle of wine purely so one glass of it can end up in your dinner? Beyond just drinking what’s left, or taking up valuable freezer space turning it into cubes for the future - does wine even freeze in a domestic freezer? - you might want to try these. I happened across them by accident but they’ve now become part of our subscribe and save because they are so useful. Whether it’s for bolognese, a creamy pasta dish, or a quick way of zhuzhing up a soup or gravy, these give the flavour of white wine without spending £7 plus per bottle for that one glass. Which makes this a cheaper and easier solution. What it won’t do is stand in for wine in any sauce that is reliant on a decent quantity of quality wine, which is why it only gets 4 stars: I have tried diluting it in hot water to get a sound idea of the flavour profile and there is something a bit metallic about the flavour that doesn’t come through in a sauce with other flavours around it. So I won’t be using this for mussels, for example. And I wouldn’t use the red wine version for coq au vin. But in any other context where you want the flavour from a glass or so of wine, these are ideal.

Excellent to throw into a pan to make whatever gruel you're cooking taste better. Decent price too.

these are really good, esp for making risotto, saves me from opening a whole bottle of wine.

Good if in a hurry not as good as adding a glass of wine but bought on deal and saves on time flavor was okay nothing to rave about
