While extremely expensive the components of this game are massive well crafted plastic miniatures and the game play is extremely well thought out. The title Cthulhu Wars put me off - and far too many games use Cthulhu as a motif now. Sandy Petersen who launched the whole Cthulhu Mythos entry to popular culture with his role playing game Call of Cthulhu has designed another classic. Based on my limited experience the game is best with 3 to 4 players and takes around an hour to an hour thirty. The rulebook is long but the rules are fairly simple and the game is engrossing and highly enjoyable. This game will set you back a weeks income, but you will get years of pleasure from it. Definitely a game for the mature gamer who has a bit of spare income and wants something beautiful to play. Highly recommend CJ

The box had a minor scratch but appart from that everything is in perfect condition and the game is a lot of fun.

Take the necesarry time to read the rules and understand them (lots of thing to learn). But then, we had a blast with my friends. Our first game lasted for nearly 4 hours... because we were not used to the rules, after some time expect for 90 minutes per game... less if someone is playing really well and understood all the tricks... Thumbs up for this game ! On a more trivial side, well packed and received on time. I just hope the seller of the game will have access to some extensions as they are necessary to play at 5+ players (up to 7 with the proper extensions).

Abgesehen von den faszinierend riesigen Figuren und der insgesamt guten Material-Qualität macht das Spiel viel Spaß. Der Ablauf ist spannend und man hat Lust, immer neue Strategien auszuprobieren. Die Welt von Cthulu zu kennen, ist keine Voraussetzung für das Spiel. Kinder mit Vorerfahrungen in Strategie-Spielen oder Tabletop-Rollen-Spielen können auch unter 14 schon erfolgreich mitspielen. Spieltechnisch ist eine entfernte Verwandtschaft zu dem Klassiker "Risiko" nicht zu leugnen. Wir haben das Spiel auf Englisch gekauft, da es auf Deutsch leider vergriffen ist. Die Anleitung stellte uns vor keine Probleme. Alle Sätze sind kurz und übersichtlich formuliert und in alltagstauglichem Vokabular verfasst. Die Dicke des Anleitungsheftes erschreckte uns zunächst, aber der SChrifttyp ist recht groß, es gibt viele Bilder, zahlreiche Erweiterungen werden schon erklärt und zu jeder Figur gibt es eine Doppelseite mit hilfreichen Tips.

Waited a long time for it to come back to retail. This 04 version is perfect. Great omega master rule soft cover book included! Great insert! Great huge miniatures! And most of all, one of the best board game!

Phenomenal game with exquisite sculptured playing pieces. It may be the most asymmetrical game I've ever played. Cthulhu seems to be the easiest to play for novices as he can act like a bull in a china shop - and get away with it most of the time. The base game can now be had for less than $170, with shipping included, and Onslaught Two is now on for another 6 days on Kickstarter with all the original expansions, and more. The only difference is a different H.P. Lovecraft first-player model. Sandy Petersen and Petersen Games are astounding with the (almost) daily updates and support on Kickstarter. This is an expensive game, no two ways about it but you do get incredible 'miniatures' and an excellent game. The effort that has gone into balancing the factions is evident. There have even been minor tweaks since first introduced. I can't wait until the extra factions are played and intermingled with the initial four factions to get a gauge of balancing with the permutations of faction against faction. Did I mention there are several other maps available, with their own unique rules and, in many case, additional unique units/playing pieces? Or additional units/GOOs that may be 'purchased' and played by any main faction? The possibilities, the possibilities...... A game such as this may never this way come again.
