Bought it for a 6 year old months ago and he still loves playing with it. The batteries last a while too. The problem is he likes to set it up when we don't know and then we trip it and the beep is loud and obnoxious. Gets a ton of laughs though and happiness is what matters.

This is fun for the kids to play with. It can be a little finnicky at times and somewhat annoying, but is still cool for a while.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: As I've mentioned with Thames and Kosmos' other product I reviewed, this is surprisingly well-made for a fairly inexpensive kid's toy, and especially for the intended audience, this should hold up pretty well. AESTHETIC QUALITY: This definitely has a look of some 'serious spycraft gear', so to speak, and the lights and sound from the alarm on this is decently bright and loud enough. EASE OF USE: The only possible sticking point is the fact that the battery-cover takes a screwdriver to remove, though it does mean that it's impossible for kids to somehow lose it in the process. In terms of its effectiveness, both the vibration-sensor and the motion-sensor are relatively effective; obviously it won't take Ethan Hunt to sneak past this thing, but it's not completely blind either. In the end, it's pretty impressive for again a pretty simple kid's toy. VALUE FOR MONEY: For what you get, so to speak, this is a pretty decent price-point. OVERALL RATING: A rather nice gift for any younger folk you know who to get their start in the world of spycraft.

We got this to make sure our kiddos don’t get into certain rooms. This requires 2 AAA batteries. Setting up is simple, the scanner is effective (about 3 feet) and the alarm sound is loud enough to startle those doing the wrong thing. It works for us and our family. Very happy with this.
