VTech CS6649-2 dect 6.0 2-Handset Landline Telephone

Hard to find a corded answering machine with cordless extensions. Good features and sound quality (my hard of hearing husband likes it). We had a Panasonic one and the answering machine was also a cordless phone. The problem with that is that you only get about half hour of calling before it goes dead. The other problem with any of those is if the power goes off after a certain amount of time you can't use it because the battery needs charging. Corded landline will never do that. The thing I did like about our old Panasonic is the pre-programmed spam call filter which this doesn't have. It is easy to use and has all the features we need. Great phone system!

As my parents aged, they each found both operating and charging smart phones more challenging. Their old landline allowed three rings before going to voicemail, which was problematic for individuals who no longer jumped to answer the phone. I bought and installed this. It allows for several long ring tones before going to voicemail and answering the main unit is as easy as picking up the receiver. The handsets can be answered by pushing the green button and terminated by pressing the red. Having worked with cognitively disabled people, this would also seem an ideal way to ensure they can answer, and possibly dial, calls. Volume and audio quality are fine, both via the handset and on speakerphone.

Just started using this one a couple of days ago. Just returned a Panasonic. Had one for many years and was a GREAT phone. New one was great in every way, EXCEPT for sound quality. Scratchy, distorted voice and low volume. Also, couldn't use during a power outage without using a battery backup. Tried everything to rectify the problem but to no avail. This V-Tech doesn't have all the features that the Panasonic had but has all the ones that I need. My only complaint that I have is about the handsets display area. All the icons are very small and hard to see compared to some of the other phones, including the Panasonic.

Accidentally dropped my cordless handset in the toilet while cleaning lol.... figured I'll just replace it. So happy with this phone set. You can use the landlines in case of power outage. It's very easy to set up. The answering machine works perfectly and the speaker phone on all the units sounds clear. Really sharp looking too.

I guess I'm old fashioned, but I still like to use phones with cords, and so I have the master phone on my desk. But the handsets are very convenient - I have a tall house (3 levels), so I have a handset in the basement and a handset in the bedroom. Now, I've just bought 2 more handsets - one for my other desk, and one for the spare bedroom. The phones work adequately, and they can all be used as speakerphones, which is good because with my old deskphone, I had to hold the receiver to my head while being placed on hold. Hated that. I'm glad I purchased this phone system, and so far it's been working very well. I recommend it highly.

DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF CRAP, DIDNT REALIZE THE TWO EXTENSIONS YOU CANNOT DIAL OUT FROM. WASTED MY FRIGGING MONEY. BUYER BEWARE

Easy for my dad to install

Sound is not very clear. It's loud enough, but a little difficult to understand. Sitting on a desk the base will not tilt toward you as much as it should. There is a lot of numbers and letters in the background that clash with what's at the forefront.
