Berserk Deluxe Volume 14

Berserk Vol. 14 hits hard emotionally. The story takes a darker, more tragic turn, and some moments really stayed with me long after I finished reading. Very good worth it. Volume 14 marks the beginning of a new era for Berserk. In the aftermath of the Eclipse, Guts emerges changed — scarred, hardened, and fueled by vengeance. Miura’s tone shifts from tragic to vengeful horror, and the world itself feels heavier, crueler, and more supernatural. The artwork is breathtaking in its darkness, and the pacing perfectly captures Guts’ transformation into the Black Swordsman we met in the beginning. A brutal, gripping rebirth for the series.

You could say this is the perfect ending of Berserk. It does close one chapter at least. Thank you Kentaro Miura, there will be no other mangaka like you. Thank you for giving us such a rich world and such beautiful art.

Epic collection, marvelous story, Kentaro Miura was a big boss. Et his manga will be passed on to the next generation in our family thanks to this gorgeous deluxe edition..

I've been reading Berserk in Panini Mexico's tankobon, and then I got the idea that I wanted the official guidebook, too. Only I couldn't find it anywhere. Eventually they reprinted it, but in the meantime I thought "why not having the guide on a decently-sized edition?" So I decided to buy Dark Horse's Deluxe Edition Volume 14. I'm so glad I did. Some of the text is so small (like on a character's first appearance) that it must look microscopic on a 5.1 x 7.25 book. Plus, I was able to read Berserk volumes 40 and 41, the last stretch of Miura's run, in larger-than-life format. Now about the writing in that guide... It's fine most of the time, but sometimes gets too tongue-in-cheek for some of the most serious aspects of the book. Seems like it's trying to parody something, maybe teen magazines from way back then? Not everything fits that style, and when the writer talks about characters being killed (and worse), they come across as kinda sociopathic. But all in all, I'm happy with my purchase, even if it left my wallet hurting and in no hurry to complete the collection in deluxe format.

Hell of a great manga! Not for children. The only downside was the demise of its author. No way of knowing how it originally ends but others have already begun to write the story to continue its appeal.

Visual espetacular, especialmente no conjunto completo. E coincidente com a estética da série. Muito recomendado.
