The extra length makes a huge difference!!!

I am so pleased to have found this Kemp lifesaving tube. Kemp is a name well known for water lifesaving devices and creating products that are effective and work for water sports. This is the first season with our swimming pool and we are just learning about what we need to keep everyone safe. Just a week ago, we had a close call in our pool that could have been tragic. After that, I searched for life saving equipment to have on hand for future. I found this life saving tube and was impressed with the design. It arrived today and is better in person than I imagined. It’s super lightweight, the outer covering is rubbery feeling allowing anyone to be able to grip and hold on, but not slide. There is a handle to wrap around the wrist of the lifeguard and on the other side a full length adjustable strap to slide over someone’s body and secure at waist, allowing for the lifeguard to pull the person to safety. In our pool, if the need should arise, we can toss the tube in the pool or go in with the tube to provide a floating device for support. This lifesaving tube would be great for lakes, oceans or pools. Always have this life saving tube available where there are swimmers. I highly recommend and am so blessed to have found it!

First thing to note is that this “puncture free” lifesaver tube at 53” long is HUGE and will keep afloat an adult person effortlessly. It came with a wearing nylon strap with loop and buckle that is adjustable for a comfortable fit during swimming and handling and the reinforced tab end points of strap to the floater body seems up to the task: sturdy and won’t fail easily. Buoyancy rating isn’t indicated in the description by the seller, but I guess that it will surely surpass 100+ newtons. The materials and manufacture look of high quality and well chosen for the application. The closed-cell high density foam encased in a nylon mesh and fully covered in polyurethane and finished with high visibility vinyl coating provide a sturdy area for good support, and an anti-slip surface at the same time for easy “grab and hold” in wet conditions. All in all, this floater incorporates a careful and well thought design, and uses excellent materials so I guess it will be “in service” at the pool for a long time. A little improvement suggestion could be to add an extra hook (carabiner clip) in the opposite end so it can easily be adapted to form a “U” shape to place around body and allow a better, more secured “resting” position of the rescued person. When I first opened this up, my elementary school aged kid asked, "Why is that one bumpy?" Well, my dear, it's so you can get a better grip on it! I would love to tell you that the conversation proceeded in Little Red Riding Hood fashion where she asked me why the floaty has two places where it narrows, and then why it is so long, but no, she started telling me why we need to live in a castle. So it goes. Anyway, we have one that is fairly smooth, slightly shorter, and no places where it narrows. We have not had a real-life rescue as yet, but I feel more confident with this one. The narrowed spots make it easier for anyone (kids or adult) to hold on, and the length makes it easier to reach from wherever you are in the pool. They all break down over time from sun, chlorine/salt, etc. This one looks like it will last at least the season, and I'm perfectly happy with that. I think maybe this is slightly more expensive than the one we got from another retailor, but worth it considering that saving a life is priceless.

Build Quality The rescue tube is well made with no defects. The strap edges are well reinforced. The strap appears to run the entire length of the tube which pretty much ensures it will never come off. The dipped coating is flexible and durable. The printing looks great and is crisp. Gripping the surface is textured and provides a good "grip-able" surface. The material is slightly compressible which also helps. There are also notches (2 locations) also assist when holding under arms and also act as a natural break point when using as a flotation device. Strap The strap is just long enough to keep the tube close yet not interfere with swimming. The widened should harness feels, it is soft and doesn't give "rope burn" or "cut into" skin when pulling. Final thoughts: This is a great rescue tube that we recommend.

This rescue tube just feels like a high quality device. I live in a condo on a beach, and we had a grown man get swept out in a rip tide a couple of months ago. All we had out there was a swim ring. While the rescue was a success, I know that this upgrade in our rescue flotation will increase our safety. I am no expert and this is my first exposure to such a device. But even so, I can take one look at it, feel the quality and know that it is well made. I looked at the website but didn't find any sort of wall mount for this. It would be nice to have. That's my only complaint.
